Olot Beach Resort: Imelda Marcos' Beach Hideaway

We just wanted to see Imelda's different mansions in Leyte and were pleasantly surprised when offered to stay here (we're their very first guests). Since it was formally owned by the Marcoses, you already have an idea what kind of place this is. Our accomodation is excellent, with 3 air-conditioned rooms but since it's still under renovation, the circuit breaker will turn the power off when we consumed much more electricity than the place could handle which happened a number of times. One of the investor (Ed) is from California and their staff were very friendly and helpful. Very nice experience and I would definitely recommend the place.

Unique Quality: For one, it was formerly owned by the Marcoses, so there's history. In fact, part of the resort is a museum where the Marcoses stay. The place though was not properly maintained under the hands of PCGG but now is under lease to an investor and is still under renovation at the time but you could already see the potential of the place. You have a feel of exclusivity because of the two hills that separate your ordinary beach and the Marcoses. They have a large swimming pool (still under renovation at the time), function area and kitchen as the Marcoses entertain their guests here. It also have a golf course and a number of huts you could rent.

Rosvenil Pensionne: Tacloban's Cheap Accommodation

Rosvenil Pensionne is a pleasant, well-kept accommodation in a quiet location. It is very good value & has a restaurant. We stayed in a double room with aircon, TV & bath, charging us P500 nightly without breakfast. The shower is pressurized, but not hot & cold. There's also a dresser in some rooms. Rooms are spacious. Huge parking area with a nice garden. There's a service phone in the lobby. Owner is very friendly. It is close to Dahil Sa Yo, a cheap, popular restaurant in Tacloban.

Unique Quality: The place has a homey feel to it.

Leyte Park Hotel and Resort: Taclobans beach hotel!

I stopped by during the busy season and was overwhelmingly suprised at finding a vacancy. There are not many choices for hotels in the area, and staying downtown didn't really apeal to me.

Hotel price was a little more expensive than what I thought it was worth, but they kind of have a corner on the market here!

Room was clean but nothing really special!

20% discount if paying cash

Unique Quality: standard: 2,512 pesos per night
executive: 3,245 pesos per night
quadruplex: 3,250 per night
family room: 3,670 per night
supreme suite: 5,375 per night.
Pool Villa: 10,000 per night

Hotel had Ok amenities. Hotel Restraunt way OK, but nothing to rave about. the pool was nice, and OK place to stay.
