The Oriental Place Leyte: Best Hotel in Leyte
A five star hotel experience. The hotel staff are very helpful.
If you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. There is an infinity pool and the restaurant is overlooking the ocean, which gives guests a very relaxing ambiance while dining.

MacArthur Park Beach Resort: Shall I return?
The resort is obviously named after the famous war hero, Gen. Douglas MacArthur. It is situated along Red Beach where MacArthur's troop landed upon return to the Philippines during World War II.
It has 43 airconditioned rooms all made of native materials like parquet floor, capiz door and walls. Each room has color TV with cable, telephone, own T/B with hot-cold water. Within the resort is a restaurant, swimming pool and area for recreational activities like volleyball, pingpong, billiard, dart, etc.
MacArthur Park is run by the government through the tourism office. Probably due to budget constraints, the resort's upkeep seems not a priority. Our room is rundown and smells of cigarette smoke. The color TV is 14" and the toilet bowl has obviously seen better days. The hightlight of our stay is the pleasure of the company of a cockroach!
The redeeming factor of the resort is their guest policies: They have free airport transfers. Their room rate of P1500 (standard single/double) per night includes complimentary breakfast worth P160++ per pax. And although the check in time is 12noon, they allowed us to check in at 7:30am without additional cost.
The resort is 5 minutes walking distance to Palo's most famous site - Leyte Landing Memorial. You can either go out of the resort compound and walk in the street or take the backdoor and walk along the beach.
It is 10 minutes by shuttle service from Tacloban Airport. The resort is also accessible to public transpo going to downtown Tacloban which is 20 minutes away.
