Tamaraw Beach Resort; how to get there?!
by Decathlete
Hey,
we are going to stay at Tamaraw Beach Resort in Aninuan for a few days in late June. We'll arrive in Manila and the question is how to get to the resort?
I guess we'll just take a bus from Manila to Batangas and then hop on one of the ferries to Puerto Galera. Does anyone know if we'll have to take another boat from there to Tamaraw Beach? I tried to get in contact with the people from the resort but I didn't get any reply.
And one question about the weather: I know it's gonna be rainy season and it could be sunny or pouring down the whole day or just anything in between...but what can you "usually" expect? I wouldn't mind a rain shower every day as long as it's not too bad...
Thanks in advance, any advice is welcome!

Try to go and leave PG in the morning as the sea would be calmer. As for the rains, its really hard to predict. Just hope for the best I guess.

By public transpo, get on a bus to Batangas City Pier. Pick the bus that goes via the Star Toll because it is more direct. From Batangas City Pier, go the port and directly to the booth of boats going to Puerto Galera. Dont buy ticket from people around the port area. Choose the boat that says Balatero or White Beach because these are the destinations that is close to Aninuan. From there, you have to take a tricycle to your resort. Other stops are PG town, Muelle and Sabang, but these are much farther, you may have to take the jeep to get to Tamaraw Beach Resort.
Ideally, leave Manila as early as 6AM. The Batangas channel can be rough. If you are prone to sea sickness drink medicine before hand. But there are days when the sea is just so calm with dolphins swimming along the boat. Hard to predict.
Dont forget to enjoy the ride. c";)

From Batangas Pier, hop on a boat heading to Balatero Pier. From the Pier, its a short tricycle ride to Tamaraw Beach Resort. I will recommend boarding RORO instead of boat (banca) as it is more comfortable and you will get amazing views of the landscape.

I lived in the Tamaraw Beach Resort hotel for 11 months to July 2010 and times prior to that. In that time I noticed a steep decline in service and standards. The night security staff were replaced by local village boys who also worked as cleaners during the day. Many times I found them asleep. The off duty staff used to party with alcohol in the hotel grounds.and most of them live-in. The hotel is building a large conference centre which is being built adjoining the hotel. The owners told me they had run out of money and it was delaying the opening date. 2 metres from the hotel rooms on the other side is 4 floor extension being built by the neighbouring hotel so the noise is a constant nuisance. I'm so disappointed as this used to be my favourite hotel in the Philippines. Not any-more . It's so sad to see a great hotel go bad.

Indeed sad. I loved this resort owing to its quiet location and quality services.

But please do not quote me on this, the info above is for general guidance
Gas Out Day.....
by kenmerk
What to do in PG on no-dive days ?? Good Question..... well the beach is narrow and the beers are cheap, so best to grab some of the precious waterfront real estate, and sit back with a San Miguel or two... (the patron saint of land locked divers....)
Maybe use a few of the empties to build a little sand "temple" in his honour to pass the day away...

try to bring one big bag and thats just it!! dont bring too much clothes coz you wont need it..shorts and blouses would be just fine.. bring more bathing suits!! hehehe if you forgot your swimwear, you could buy there from 250-500.. bring your first aid kit!! we were stung by small jelly fishes.. dont ever forget your camera!! coz we forgot ours.. we've only used our phones camera, we can't bring them on the banana boat nor anywhere wet.. sigh..
Best sites in Mindoro
by ahoerner
Sabang and Puerto Galera have some of the best sites for scuba diving in Mindoro and even in the Philippines.
So even if you plan to stay a calm week on the beach, I would suggest doing some snorkelling or even a beginner's diving course.
Underwater, divers can admire a plenty of colourful reefs, many different species of fish, water snakes. You can bring your own equipment or rent it (as I did) on the various shops.
