Spending almost more than 10K per day in a hotel/resort sounds outrageous to us. But, no other occasion would be the best time to go there and splurge than a honeymoon. It was the best resort we have been so far. After some more tips from people who have been in Palawan (thru www.virtualtourist.com), we learned that the best place to go is El Nido, and since the El Nido resorts are the best resorts there, we opted to go to El Nido - Miniloc. Direct booking to elnido resorts is quite expensive so we had to canvassed with travel agencies for better, cheaper rates. Rajah Tours and Annset Holidays offered the best rate at $165/night/pax. It was our price to beat. Luckily, El Nido emailed me their anniversary rate offering a $155/night/pax rate for the water cottage - twin sharing!
We did not take the chartered flight to El Nido by Transvoyer since we availed the P10-fare of Cebu Pacific which only cost us P5,500 two-way for 2 pax! (what a steal!). So, from Puerto Princesa we took the 5am bus trip to El Nido via Eulen Joy Liner. Had lunch and went to the airport where we will have the boat transfer to the resort with PM flight passengers.
At the resort, we were welcomed with a drink, guided us to our water cottage and during dinner we discussed the activities that we want for the next 2 days. Food is great, there were lots of choices. Although, it is hotel food, we enjoyed every meal and gained so much weight after our stay there. The cottage room is also cool, the water cottage had a verandah so it was very refreshing looking at the island and some fishes under the cottage. Staff is absolutely like family. They take care of all your needs, put towels to your seats during boat transfers, put your things in a plastic so it won't get wet, etc. Grabe! Life of the rich and famous talaga !
It's worth the money we spent! great food, buffet style
excellent customer service of staff
great rooms
variety of activities
The intro-dive was quite an experience! Snorkeling is also great! The fishes were very friendly. The island hopping was also good! Kayaking was great! Pangulasian picnic lunch is cool! and the best part during our stay is our kayaking big and small lagoon! i guess the lagoons are very much like paradise! and of course, our private picnic lunch in one of the islands is also very memorable!
Such a romantic place! I love it! I would like to go back but with only my husband. Not with children. We stayed at the Miniloc Resort and it was so good! They kept us super busy and the food was fantastic!
Our favorite was kayaking. We went kayaking everyday we stayed here. Introductory diving. We went also to Pangulasian Beach to see the sunset. Beautiful! Hiking, Fishing Lagoon tours We visited also the Lagen Island Resort nice but I prefer the Miniloc because the Lagoons and most of the activities were near the Miniloc
Really interesting and beautiful marine.
Absolutely paradise! A great place to unwind, commune with your soul, a food for the spirit, an enigma of nature. Truly God's treasure! El Nido is the best place we have been so far, in 6 years of travelling around the Philippines.
We have wanted to spend our most cherished moment after our wedding in Palawan, and where else should be splurge for that day but in el nido miniloc. the place, service, staff and food is really amazing! It's all worth the money we've spent. Really a memorable and one of our greatest moments in Palawan is spent in this resort. Splendid! Highly recommended!
Truly an amazing site! No wonder it's a World Heritage! Really amazing how nature has this wonder.
Just finished a trip from Coron to Elnido to Roxas to Puerto Princesa from October 12 to 21.
We flew to Coron then took the boat to El Nido then a bus to Roxas (Cocoloco Island Resort) and a private van to Puerto Princesa City.
In Coron, We stayed at Discovery Dive and Resort. On the same day, we rented a kayak and snorkled near Dive Link Resort. We rented a boat at the resort for island hopping the next day. On our last day at Coron, we took a hike to Mt. Tapyas which gives a panoramis view of Coron town and Culion Island.
El Nido is the must-see place. It is a misconception that El Nido is expensive. Yes, it would be if you're going to stay at Miniloc and Lagen Island Resorts. We were able to get a 450php a night for the whole room (fan-room) at Gloria's located at the town with a good view of Cadlao Island. Then we transferred to Laly and Abeth also located at the same street for Php1,300).
You need at least 3 days to explore the islands in El Nido. There are organized trips in El Nido Boutique in Art Cafe located near the port. El Nido is so small that you don't need a map and you can go around the town on foot.
From El Nido, we took a bus to Puerto Princesa which passes by Taytay and Roxas. We checked in at Coco Island Resort which is a boat ride away from Roxas town. After spending a night at the resort, we went to Puerto Princesa and stayed two nights there.
I'm still in the process of creating my detailed pages of the places I stayed in Palawan.

Hi there! we are planning our honeymoon by June this year. and we would like to go to Coron, El Nido, Taytay, Dumaran and Puerto Princesa. we would be splurging a bit in one of the expensive resorts, i just want to know which is better El Nido - Miniloc or Club Noah?
Also, if we do the Coron-El Nido-Taytay-Puerto Princesa trip, what would be the best lodges (low cost) and transpo to get to these places and how much time will we spend? is 2 weeks enough?
It's an option we are considering? Though it is soooo expensive. Looks amazing though and we want a little bit of luxury.
Does anybody know any decent medium-luxury hotels/resorts that we could go to. A lot of people recommend Rosanna's in El Nido but we do like the idea of a pool too :-)
Have u checked last minute offers for Lagen & Miniloc at ratestogo.com. discounted rates for both places. we booked two nites, at least. There's a swimming pool at Lagen.
Rossana's budget, miles from 'a bit of luxury'
Yes, I wouldnt put any of the beachfront places in El Nido in the 'luxury' category! They are all jammed close to one another, hardly any room to breathe! Marina Gardens looked the nicest of all of them, but still far form luxury. I think you would be better off going over to Corong Corong and staying at Greenviews.
I don't think anywhere has a pool though:(
El Nido Garden Resort cost $145 for 2 people in a room and they have a swimming pool and are located at the edge of town.
for the medium luxury:
El Nido Beach Hotel a standard room is P3500 per night, deluxe P4500.
Dolarog Beach Resort which has a swimming pool as well. 40mins. away from town and also and Las Cabanas Beach Resort are in the P4500 per person range, include the meals and a tour.
The next step down would be Greenviews Resort in Corong Corong Bay (10mins. tricycle ride from town)
The more common and cheaper accommodation in town, with private baths and balcony in town: Marina Garden, Rosanna's Cottage, Chizlyke Cottage or the Makulay Lodge is about 5 mins. walk out of town. An air-con room is about P1500-1800 and Fan room around P1000-1200.
Will be visiting PI this November. Which is better Coron or El Nido, in terms of beach,island-hopping and resort? Can't really go to both locations because of time constraints, only have 10 days to spend.
How's the weather at that time? Already forgot how it's like in November.
Looking forward to your reply.
I've only been to Coron but I know little about El Nido too.
Both are great for island hopping.
Coron is cheaper than El Nido (resorts, boat rentals, etc)
Coron is best for wreck diving, El Nido for coral diving and snorkeling.
I think Coron has more lakes to visit.
El Nido has more beaches and limestone cliffs (i think).
If it's just beach life you want i suggest El Nido, it's in my next-to-visit place. But you say you have 10 days to spare, is that in Palawan or in the Philippines? Coron and El Nido is "doable" in 10 days with interisland flights.
i have been to el nido stay only 3 days, never been to coron, beautiful scenery/plenty of beaches, take note no nite life in el nido resort, limited nite activities in el nido resort, u can go to the web page el nido resort to check the price(the package price is diff for local and foreigner) plenty of sea sports in eld nido resort..... Happy trip !
Both are nice places to visit. I stayed at Club Paradise at Coron and was quite satisfied with the service, accomodations and flaura and fauna. Lots of big fishes in the house reef. Other things to do in Coron is visit the wildlife safari/preserve at Calauit, soak in hot springs or go trekking and swim in the "cleanest lake" in the country. No TV in the rooms by the way.
El Nido has two sister resorts, Miniloc and Lagen (I forgot but only one has a swimming pool.) These two resorts are classier than Club Paradise. But don't get me wrong, if El Nido were a 5star hotel, Club Paradise would be a 4.5 star :-)
I guess there are more places to visit in Coron than El Nido.
I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever. And to echo another person that commented, 5 days in both Coron and El Nido would suffice. Ten days in one place might be too long. 3 days is too short.
both are equally stunning...
the islands in coron are farther away from coron town,
the islands in el nido are less farther away from el nido town
Thanks for replying, you guys.
We've made a decision to go to El Nido and most likely stay at Miniloc.
