Punta Isla: Lake Resort

I will still recommend this place despite that we think we were not given much attention when we arrive. They were all busy for a resort party but they assigned someone to bring us to our room and advised us to go to the other resort to have our dinner. The room we rented is a dorm type and it's just right in our budget. The next day, we had our breakfast and lunch. We ordered their specialty and we were not disappointed. Plus a tivoli (local) singer gives a short performance while we are having lunch. We also had our lake tour ride. Experience is awesome. The view is so magnificent.

Food is great as well as the views.

Mountain Log Resort: Best for Barkada and Family

Although not the high end type of accommodation, Mountain Log Resort offers cheap but well pampered service among others in Lake Sebu.

Punta Isla Resort: Overlooking Lake sebu

Punta Isla is located on the banks of Lake Sebu. It is not on the main road, accessible thru a dirt road but with an unobstructed view of the lake. The room we got is overlooking and spacious enough for two persons. The accommodations are basic and down to earth simple but with a local inspired design. It gives you the feel to be content with what is being offered and appreciate the T'boli touch in its amenities. For someone who is coming from Luzon, this is so Mindanao inspired.

One thing though, rooms are not sound proof. When we were there, a group of students from nearby North Cotabato are also staying in the resort. We can hear their school program and even laughter.

Punta Isla has restaurant near the reception and they have small cottages in the lake. Take your pick where you want to eat your tilapia or enjoy your instant coffee.

Most of the locals where traditional clothing. Its like monks in Myanmar. They blend well. Almost every sight with them is picture perfect. To us, its costumes, to them, its the regular day to day clothing. My roomie and I just ask locals if we can have a picture with them and they are so surprised why do we want to have pictures taken.

Balben Family Cove: Hidden Garden of Lake Sebu

I definitely would recommend Balben Family Cove in Lake Sebu as the perfect place to relax and slow down. The place left me nothing but good and relaxing memories. My sister, brothers and cousins had a great time exploring the lake through a boat ride. The staff provides safety vests for those who want to take a short boat trip or want to go fishing. There are no air cons available here, but one needs not to worry as the cool breeze of vicinity is enough to keep you cold.

Guests (preferably families and groups) who wants to stay here should first contact Ms. Marilyn Suedad to schedule their booking. They do not accept walk ins.

The cove offers not only fresh food and very tasty tilapias but also a view to die for! The lake itself is enough reason for one to visit this southern part of Mindanao. Plus the lilies and lotus are all charming. Exotic and indigenous plants thrive in this so-called Hidden Garden. The upper part of the cove is also a wonderful site to catch glimpse of the herons during sunrise and sunset.

Mountain Log Resort: Friendly Resort

I haven't stayed at Mountain Log but spent some few hours with the owner who was very friendly and accommodating.

Stay at this Mountain Log the owner will make you feel at home and he knows the place too well. Staffs are courteous too.

Most of the lotuses grew in the resort, good for early morning photography.

Best view can be seen at the tower located within the resort

Merls Mountain Resort: Budget Resort

The place is farther from the town proper and accessible by single motorcycle which is the common way of transport in Lake Sebu. It is near Lake Lahit which comes first before Lake Sebu from Surallah. The ambiance is very quiet, nice and cool. Cottages are made of bamboos and nipa. I don't recommend this place for people who don't bring their own car because of the distance from the town proper.

It has a great view and there is a small waterfall at the right side of the resort which the owners plan to develop into natural spa.
