I would recommend this resort for those who seek creature comforts like a good bed, a fridge, a nice bathroom, TV with cable etc. There is also a pool and a good view of the beach and neighboring islands.

Unique Quality: Great views for 2nd floor and up rooms

Directions: Off a dirt road, quite remote. A trike can take you there if you don't have a car.

Want a less crowded beach? Then go here...

As of this writing, this beach hotel-resort has been open for about a month so it's relatively new and very few have heard about it, much less gone there. It's quite remote, I'd say about 10 kms. from the nearest town, and is accessible only by private transport. The last 2 kms. to the place is on rough, dirt road. But the place is surprisingly nice, clean, and well-kept. It's not that big though, there are less than 10 hotel rooms plus 10 cottages/villas around the swimming area. I don't think it has been accredited by the Dept. of Tourism yet but I'm sure it would easily pass whatever criteria there are to be one...it'll probably merit a 3-star rating.

The main building houses the resto, conference room and hotel rooms. The cottages surround the main swimming pool that has a gazeebo over it. To go to the beach, you pass through a manicured garden that has swings and benches before reaching a beachfront lined with cabanas, lounge chairs and barbeque grills.

Upside: they have free Wifi access, satellite TV, jetski rental. They take longer than average to make your orders at the resto, but the food is surprisingly GOOD that it's worth the wait.

Downside: The waiters at the resto were not that knowledgeable yet about their own menu or even how they're cooked that they frequently asked the chef if customers raised questions. But this should improve with time.

I would certainly recommend this place for as long as they maintain their standards.

Unique Quality: The resort is right across the sea from 2 islands that you could go to and explore...maybe even camp (but why camp when you're checked in??). The hotel has its own "fleet" of motorized boats that can take you there in 15 mins. and return for you at an appointed time. There are also jetskis and a banana boat for rent.

The hotel rooms have their own individual balconies from where you can see the nearby mountains that are almost devoid of trees but which still makes for a good view.

The beach is of grey sand, becomes fairly deep just 15 feet from the shore, and has strong surfs which is why the resort has plans of making it a surfing area.

Directions: At San Antonio town, go to the end of the main street past the town plaza and make a left. Right on the second street then left just before the second arch. After 2 one-lane bridges watch for a sign on the right "Punta de Uian", and turn right there.
