Blue Rock was quite a busy hotel when we called in and booked but we were lucky enough to get rooms overlooking the sea (2100 Pesos). The fantastic views from the room and the ability to walk straight out and onto a beautiful beach makes this a wonderful place to chill out.
There is a large comfortable restaurant overlooking the beach, serving a wide variety of seafoods, steaks and traditional Filipino meals. The Lapu-Lapu fish was superb. In the evening there is live music playing.
The hotel rooms were clean, comfortable with a modern smart en-suite shower room.
Jet-skis are available for hire a short distance away.
If you want to explore other bars at the other end of town, you can take a trike for about 100P.
To sea the sun setting over the sea against the beach is a view to remember.
Trying to get an accommodation when you go to the treetop adventure (well if you try other places in subic like the zoo safari you needed some accommodation)
is a lot easier here......
because there are many hotels within the vicinity........that you can get....
Unfortunately this property rates itself (and charges) as a 5 star hotel. The poor maintenance, indifferent staff attitude and inedible food lift barely above a flop house.
People are nice but which is understandable we are Filipinos afterall but the service is just ok.A price of P2,200 per person is such a crazy package for such a rund down place.Grasses unkempt, flies and mosquitoes abound, dirty surroundings even if its a forest I don't think it should be like that. The proximity of pond and pool is just crazy.Food service is a mockery. its not even that good tasting.Dont be fooled on what you see in their website coz its not what it is.Although airsoft is a good provider of a jungle war game but hey I don't think a jungle should really be having plastics lying around and grasses as tall as the man who escorted us, trails are not clear.Ocean water is itchy.Rooms are untidy, I don't think they change linens. For P2,200 per person a night I dont think I will be coming back. It is such a sorry state from the last time I was there.Maybe the developers should have maintained it like the way it was under the Americans.
None.Maybe except the views since it is an island but I dont find it nice looking over the Hanjin plant.
We stayed at The Getaway for 1 week. I have to say it is the nicest little place on the beach. very friendly aussie couple own it. Great food, nice simple rooms with cable tv, hot showers, aircon, and right on the beach. only 1000 pesos a night. and its close to all the other bars and restaurants along the beach.
Absolute beach front
Had the best holiday with my mate here in baloy beach. stayed at the getaway last week. Its absolute beach front. the rooms are brand new with aircon, cable tv, hot shower. very nice aussie owners. great food and nice locals. all in all it was a great trip and would definately recommend staying there. prices are reasonable. about 1000 pesos a night and there are a lot of different bars and restaurants near by.
absolute beach front
(This is my second time to write about Boardwalk Inn...the first one got erased...again...sigh) So again...the place isn't so bad, considering that it's quite cheap. It's old, but the room is big and neat and clean, with all the basic amenities such as a working a/c, ref, tv with cable, and hot and cold shower. The location is good, too, right across the beach and the strip of restaurants and bars. It's a one-storey building, with all the rooms facing a "garden" in the middle...no flowers, though, just brown grass and dry earth. Place is perfect for those who just need a decent place to stay in while saving the rest of their dough on other Subic adventures.
Cheap. Nice location. Complete and functioning basic amenities. Don't expect 5-star accommodations, please.
I used to stay here regularly in the early 2000. This was my favorite hotel then. But now aircon is weak. We stayed one night only (our original plan is 2 nights) due to weak air conditioning. we even requested for a fan.
located near where the action is, walking distance. Price is good.
A nice resort hotel on the beach. 24 hour bar/restaurant, Weekend BBQ. Nice pool and jacuzzi. All right on the beach at the north end of Subic Bay. Nearby is para-sailing, jet skiing, and other beach activities, plus other restaurants and bars along the beach. Rooms were nice and included A/C, mini bar, and cable TV. Bathrooms were a bit small, and the beds weren't all that comfortable (thin, lumpy mattress). Hotel staff was nice, and quick with requests like extra pillows or blankets. Laundry service available. 5 minute trike ride takes you to the clubs along the main drag in Subic, and a 10 minute cab ride takes you to Oceans Bar (the best in the area IMHO).
Nice pool with swim-up bar, warm jacuzzi, decent food, right on the beach
We stayed there last weekend. Based from their website and sales team, it looks like the place was perfect but little did we know that it was a rip off!
The rooms were okay, it was spacious enough but some phone lines are not working. We reported it to the front desk but up to the moment we left, it was never fixed.
The beach is ok, but very rocky. So better wear your aqua shoes to avoid the risk of having cuts.
The pool is ok.
The billiards location is ok but there are only 2 tables and the other table is missing the cue stick so it is useless!
The staffs were ok. Friendly and courteous enough.
The grasses are tall. They need to be trimmed down.
The obstacle course area / volleyball area are too small compared to what the pictures in their website show.
The advertised water facilities are not functioning! Only the banana boat and the speed zone (which was not advertised btw) are working. Their sales team did not mention this to us during pre-sales stage.
The plated foods are not ok. They taste bad.
The water served in the glass tastes bad - and the glasses they have used were too dirty! Seems like they were not used for ages!
The darts location is off. No room for spectators or anyone who wants to sit down.
The food/water prices are sky high. 33 pesos for a 330 ml of water (you can normally buy it at 8 pesos in the grocery) and 54 pesos for an 8oz of soda.
Overall, it did not met our expectations.
It's on an island. You have to take a ferry to get there.
We stayed here during a field trip & it was more than 10 years ago (1997). i am not even sure whether it is still in Subic or does SBMA still rent these out. What i remember was, there were so many of us in a Barracks, we shared showers/bathrooms, & we were like soldiers in the movies. It was really fun.
It was so fun to sleep with all your frineds in one room (that is if you could sleep at all). I felt like i have about 20 siblings & we were sleeping in a very huge bedroom.
I stayed at the Marina Vista Hotel in Subic Bay with my wife in June 2007. Whilst the hotel itself was mediocre (no lift, poor restaurant, isolated location), the biggest shock came after we got home. Having paid for our stay by credit card, since returning to the UK my last two months statements have both shown further unathorised deductions made from my credit card without any explanation. When I logged onto their website to complain, I found that they had removed the website.
I am currently consulting with my credit card provider over the hundreds of pounds they have fraudulently charged to my credit card. So be warned and avoid this place at all cost. It is just a fraudulent scam designed to rip people off. I would be interested to hear if anyone else who has stayed in this place has suffered a similar experience.
Run by fraudsters who just want to steal your money.
We stayed at Johan's for a weekend with our 2 children and yaya. The room was clean and adequate, though it smelled of fresh paint. We had a tv and dvd player and 2 queen size beds for less than P 2,000. The atmosphere of the restaurant/bar is nice and the food is pretty good (but not the pizza! yuk!). There is a Belgian bakery on the premises with lots of delicious stuff.
The beach area in front of the hotel was nice and clean (unlike the rest of the beach), the dive shop and divemaster were better than average, though quite pricey compared to others in the Phils.
They have massage/pedicure/manicure services. There was a jacuzzi but not in operation.
I stayed at the Grande Island Resort on April 2007 during Holy Week. Don't be fooled by the resort's website as I was. When we arrived there, there was NO WATER IN THE LAGOON, NO ROOM SERVICE AVAILABLE and the POOL WATER WAS DIRTY! And although we were assured we had a variety of food selections to choose from, when we got there they told us we had no choice but to have buffet barbecue lunches and buffet barbecue dinners. We paid the tourist (American) prices for our rooms as well as for everything else, but nothing was worth the price we paid. The dune buggy rides were fun, until you got to stop at the "historic spots" (old artillery building, the old guns, & beachside) where we saw TONS OF TRASH AND GARBAGE. Certainly MISREPRESENTED by the website. You get lured by the nice photos and descriptions, and once you get there they have you and you have no choice but to bite the bullet. If you need more info or pics feel free to email me at email@example.com. I'll be glad to share more details about this highway-robbery of a place!
Staff was friendly and nice. There's a nightly cultural show that's entertaining, but at the end of the show they announce that the dancers DO NOT GET PAID and they ask everyone to give tips. They go for the foreigners first for the money, saying, "Sir, we don't get paid, so please give us tips"! Management should take better care of their staff and either pay their dances and entertainers or give them the gratuities at least. Management needs to do a LOT of upkeep of the facilities and CLEAN UP THE TRASH!
The service of the hotel is good. The staff is courteous. However facilities are not very well kept. You have to pay for extra pillow, blankets and towels if you request for it. We stayed for two nights. The first day our breakfast was plated which was not so good. The breakfast buffet on our second day was good but on both days you need to ask for your drinks(coffee, juice) before they serve it to you. For the price we paid at P2500/night it's just ok.
I like the location of the hotel since the beach is across the road. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel which you can choose from. Staff are honest people since one time a friend of mine stayed there and left her cellphone and a few game boy cartridges when she checked out. The housekeeping surrendered all the stuff they found in her room and the front desk staff called her thru another cell when she was on her way to Manila to come back for it. They have a small pool within the hotel which the children will like.
