The place is great. Rooms are overwhelmingly good and relatively cheap for a budget traveller. The staffs are helpful. Very safe place.
We did not stay there though we original booked ourselves at that resort (sorry Sunbloom). But as explained in another tip, it was just because of how many we were on the trip! In my experience, an interesting thing about Sunbloom is the warmth and "casualness" when you talk to anyone of them as I immediately noticed on my very first cellphone call to Mercy (the owner).
They talk to you as if you have known them (and vice versa) for a long time. They sound like the family who lives next door! Really!
In a little bit of contrast to Dawal (where we eventually stayed), the folks at Sunbloom are just managing a home-business so the personal touches are still quite evident. The reservations (okay, am guilty) is via "palabra de honor" (that means "word-of-honor" for those of you living in countries not colonized by Spain for 300 years hehe). Meaning... you just call to reserve a room and they jot your name and dates down... they'll stand on that confirmation... period. No going to banks for deposits nor giving away your credit card details and things like those! When you arrive at the resort, Allan will happily meet you at the entrance and show you to the rooms they have reserved for you and let you see if you like it!
The rooms are actually fine with that kind of homey ambiance. Rural but clean. Nice clean in-room toilets and showers. And the two beds are actually bigger than those we got at Dawal. I think Sunbloom has Queen size beds while Dawal has Double beds. Let me just clarify, reason why we opted for Dawal was because there was a 5th person and the area where the 5th person would have laid out his bed was wider at Dawal's 3rd floor than what was at Sunbloom - since there was a looong bamboo sofa (which I actually liked and planned to sleep on but my companions didn't like the idea).
The spacious cooking area is right next to the tables and chairs on beach side while at Dawal the restaurant is a walk away from the beach :)
Oh, right on the sandy beach are also concrete tables and chairs where you and your companions can hang out too!
Probably the most adequate place in the whole Uacon area in terms of what you might need. Not that you'll find everything in Dawal but am pretty sure all the other resorts have less. This resort also seems to be the first into 'professionalizing' their staff (uniformed with name-plates, courteous and attentive).
They have a big enough pea-shaped pool with two slides (one that drops you unto the 4ft deep end of the pool and another to the 7ft deep portion). The "elevated" circular kiddie pool is too big you'll want to keep a constant watch of your kids!
They have air conditioned cottages (single-detached or in a row), a dormitory type accommodation for 16 people, regular rooms, deluxe rooms plus function rooms and function areas by the poolside.
The spacious and open restaurant is spacious and has a cable TV running your favourite programs. On Saturday nights only), a musical band will entertain you at that spacious grill area just beside the restaurant. There isn't any like this anywhere else! And last Feb 23 '08, we are told there were 8 such bands that jammed in the place - but we arrived Sunday, the 24th :(
The "penthouse" on the 3rd floor has a very good view of Potipot Island and the beautiful sunset.
