The Gateway Inn: Close to the Airport
Have never stayed there personally. But, have met a few people who have. It is very close to the Airport. Can host conferences. Planning on having my wedding reception there. The only place in town big enough to handle a big reception. Everyone I have spoken to, have said it is a very good stay. Business or Pleasure travelers. If you want a hotel outside of the city proper, this could be your place. For me, I prefer to be in the city, about 138,000 population in all the combined barangays. For that you will want to be at the Tavern Hotel.
Unique Quality: Large conference rooms. Ideal for business or big private events. Close to the airport. Modern design and accomedations. Very good restaraunt.

The Tavern hotel and rest.: On the Waterfront
This is about the most expensive place to stay here in Surigao. But it is still a bargain by western standards. Nice rooms, and staff. Clean, comforatable with AC and cable TV for about 30-35USD per night.
Unique Quality: Nice view of the Waterfront from the outside lounge. Very comfy overstuffed outdoor furniture for you to enjoy the breeze and have a drink before your meal. One of Surigaos top 3 restaraunts, along with Adrianas, and the Gateway Hotel. The food is excellent. Mostly Philippino varieties. Try the Butter Chicken, or the Sweet and Sour Fish Filet. Lighting in the rest. is a little dim for me. I suppose you could call it intimate dinning.
