Quarterhaus pension house: cheap and affordable pension house in Tacloban

by solenn

I stayed at the pension house for my Teacher's exam. The place was a little old but the price was cheaper compared to other motels. I did not get 5-star service but I expected it since the room price was so affordable. I guess I will recommend the place to my motorist friends who would stay for a night only.

It has a restaurant on the 1st floor. Food was also affordable.

Talcobans Best Places to Stay

by realmercy

I have stayed in Tacloban City twice, Aug '06 and Feb. '07. My first visit I stayed in Hotel Alejand. the hotel was clean, quiet, with hot and cold water and even a restaurant where the food was very good. But after my first visit I did feel guilty about spending so much money for a room with a large bed. the rates listed on the website you mentioned are correct. So after a couple of days I asked a tricycle driver for a cheaper place and then stayed at the "My Pension Home" house. They had very cold aircon, 24 hour, security, and lite refreshments for sale (water, cold soda, snacks)hot water, tv and the owners live there also, I did see them letting some tourist use their internet access also. The price was the good place there it was only either 600 or 660 pesos per night, yes you read it right.Oh and the place also was almost brand new. It is about 5 minutes from the downtown or less by tricycle and the cost for the ride is either 6 or 12 pesos for the driver. I stay there all the time now when I am traveling there. Also the Talcoban Plaza Hotel is almost directly across the street from the McDonalds, one of the mains streets where I have seen parades, I have not stayed there but it looks like a nice. several stories hotel. I would suggest you make a reservation for the Hotel Alej. and then check out the My Pension Home Place to save money, I hope this will help.

It is a walk up 3 storey hotel, well maintained, very friendly staff's and on top of all this it is so accessible to to town area where you can shop for most of the things that you need and lovely pricing, can't beat the price...so cool. It the best place to stay when you are at Tacloban City

the longer you stay there the cheaper it can become.....

Hotel Alejandro: Tacloban's Best Hotel

by sigpro229

I would give this hotel a rating of 2 out of a possible 5. This hotel was built before WWII and is still in good condition. They provide transfers from the airport to the hotel. Returning to the airport is extra.

The room was a good size and, most importantly, clean. The bed was, however, uncomfortable. The TV was a good size, at about 24 inches and there were a good selection of channels. The shower had low pressure and the water didn’t get hot enough, but was bearable. The refrigerator was a pleasant surprise.

Customer service was excellent, as is Pilipino tradition. The house restaurant, although pricey for the area, was good. Within the hotel is a small WWII museum which gave me a great learning experience.

The Alejandro is located in the heart of Tacloban. Pretty much any place within the downtown area could be reached via Tricycle for 5 pesos.

All in all, I would stay here again, as the price seems to be right. It also seems to be the best hotel in the Tacloban area.

A small WWII museum located in the lobby of the hotel. Great customer service.

MANHATTAN HOTEL: Downtown Hotel

by Travel2write

Ahhhh? Back to the Mahanttan. I've stayed here on more than one occassion. It's clean and safe, but right downtown Tacloban. With the morning traffic, you will not sleep in! The buses and jeepneys run past the hotel from 6 am until midnight. We were visiting family, so for a place to drop your bags and get out and about it was fine. The best way to describe it was as cheap, with hot water.

Room was a little dirty with ants, however the staff quickly fixed the issues once notified. A good jumping off point if taking any of the harbor boats or needing to be in Tacloban. Highest priced rooms are 980 peso's, so that's just a little over 20 bucks.
Prices for Single: 625.00 Pesos
Double: 875.00 Pesos
Executive: 1,062.00 Pesos
However they will give you a discount the longer you stay. We were there a week, and they gave us the "Executive Suite" for 850.00 Pesos. They accept all major credit cards.

So accumudating, best foods and friendly guests. Everyone should go to this place to have a different experience.

A silent place, far from the cuity of Tacloban and near a beach wherein you can smell fresh air.
