Although a bit out of the way but I recommend the Gallery Evason Hotel. It's an ultra modern hotel with a glass pool. It's on Robertson Quay, and the views of the hotel are tranquil and not the hustle and bustle of Orchard Street. The rooms are comfortable and so modern. The room numbers are not on the door but on the floor. A must for the hip traveler.
Expensive but watch out for good packages. Our 3 night stay cost about $200 US.

Built in 1953, the New 7th Storey Hotel is landmark of a bygone era. In fact, this building has resided in the same spot for the last 47 years. New 7th Storey Hotel is not what its name suggests. It actually has nine storey with 38 rooms to cater to the budget conscious traveller. The hotel also offers travellers a quaint side of Singapore with its spiral staircase and a lift that can still be operated manually.
