restaurant expenses at Changi airport, Singapore

by henkvan

Hi all, I will be travelling Sydney, Australia to Philippines with Singapore Airlines and will have a 3-hour break between flights each way at Changi. It has been many years since I've been there and no doubt prices have changed. Not wishing to have many Singapore dollars left over can anyone give me an estimate as to how much I would need to buy a decent meal and a couple of beers at the airport. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Henk

Hello
I bought a nice sandwich at Starbucks for about 7 SGD. Which i thought was not too bad. They also have some cheaper local restaurants upstairs. There are quite a few decent restaurants in the airport at a good price. I would suggest you just look around since you have 3 hours and i think you will find what youu want. I like to eat at the Burgerking but that is me. Had a nice angus burger there. Take the free shuttle between terminals and look at the maps for ideas about restaurants and a place for beer.

I guess paying with credit card should do the trick

I was going to suggest paying by credit card too - that way you'll have no SGD change! I was there in May and they were in the process of upgrading some parts of the airport so the choice of eateries was fairly limited (it was also around 10 at night which didn't help) but hopefully they've finished that by now and most places took credit cards :)

The restaurants are quite scattered throughout the different terminals, and as said before, the choices are fairly limited. I would just use a credit card to pay for your meal. It's much easier.

Decent meal should be about 20$s to 40$s and the beer at the airport should be less than 20$ too. I hope that helps as we just been to Singapore first of Sept. this year.

Travel Tips for Singapore

Go for a Swim with Friends

by Strikinsmile

If you live in Singapore, you'll discover that there's not much to do in this little country. It's nice to enjoy life's cheap thrills and just go to a friend's place, enjoy the amenities of the private apartment (read my lips... the pool!) and have a blast. Went night swimming with friends at Adam Park, where one of my friends stays. We just enjoyed the water and had a fun time. It was a relaxing swim after a long week at work. It was great!

Tipping

by kissgurami

Tipping is not encouraged as most hotels and restaurants in Singapore already levy a 10% service charge on customers' bills. Tipping is not a way of life in Singapore and is prohibited at the airport.

2005 Chinese New Year in Singapore

by imstress

Heralding the Year of the Rooster in the Chinese Zodiac, the streets of Chinatown will be adorned with festive light-ups to welcome one of the most revered cultural events in the city.

Feast your eyes and ears on deafening fire crackers and beautiful bursts of colours in a specially choreographed fireworks and pyrotechnics display along with confetti showers.

Try the Chinese New Year Goodies from mandarin oranges, pineappletarts, cookies, sweets, plum blossoms, waxed meat to my favourite "Ba Kwa" (BBQ Pork/Chicken) and prawn rolls.
