Concorde
I thought this hotel was good. It was a little away from Orchard Road, but being on the SIA Hop On Bus Route, there were no problems getting anywhere.
I believe it is now called the Holiday Inn.

This hotel has a unique design and the exterior is fully glassed, circular shapes used in the design and there is one large round tower.
The hotel is located within 5 minutes drive of both the Orchard Road shopping paradise and Shenton Way, the cities financial hub. It is also within walking distance of the Singapore river, with many new attractions, including restaurant and bars.

Nice hotel, centrally located
The Concorde Hotel is a modern city hotel with a beautiful lobby with flowers, marble and lifts with glass walls (aarrgh!). Rooms are clean and comfortable, there are tea and coffee making facilities, minibar and a radio in the bathroom! I enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay in this hotel again if I ever get the opportunity to go to Singapore again.
Unique Quality: The view from our room was very nice, and the restaurant where breakfast is being served also offers good views (breakfast is good, too). On the roof there is a pool and deckchairs where you can also order some food and drinks.
It is only a 10-15 minutes walk to Clarke Quay with its restaurants, live music and souvenir sellers.
