Though this hotel would be a very cheap alternative, i would rather stay in a different hotel all together and pay a bit more. The reputation of the fragrance chain here in Singapore is a bit sleazy. Best to avoid if you are travelling with your elderly parents or young children as this branch is at the red light district. Red light district is in Geylang area, with all those even numbered lorongs and this is right smack at it! :)
Is a 10 min walk to the nearest MRT station (Kallang stn). There are several good restaurants/eateries nearby, but I would rather stay in a more centralized location.

Singapore's luxurious budget style
The hotel is located in Geylang Lorong where the booming night spots of Singapore is located. The reception is open 24 hours, offers Internet connection, get ready with those 1 singaporean dollar coins when using the computer for Internet. The rooms are suitable for sleeping, it is cozy and the rooms are not that big. Elevator is available and you can check-in as late as possible. This is the hostel/hotel where you get what you paid for. I can say that it fine, though I’m not quite happy about the molds in the toilet. My mum even left a message on their suggestion box as she was not happy too. Every room is equipped with flat screen plasma TVs, telephone, hot and cold shower, electric water kettle and they offer coffee as complimentary drink and two bottles of drinking water, the hair dryer works perfect and I like the mirror they installed. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk going to the train station. It is close to many bars and food stalls along the street.
The receptionist speaks good English and you can easily find your way around. The rooms are clean and bed sheets are not as good as you get in posh hotels but like I said, it is suitable for sleeping. As you don’t need to stay in the hotel all day long if you are travelling as a tourist. This place is also suitable for those who are on a business trip.
I would say that this is not a family friendly hotel/hostel because it is located on the red district area.
Unique Quality: It is near the train station, plenty of food stalls and bars.

Singapore Budget Hotels
If you are on a budget then the Fragrance hotel chain may be the place for you. They have many Fragrance hotels in Singapore and they are one of the cheapest hotels you can get. The average price is about 50 Singapore Dollars depending on day and holidays etc. the Sapphire is a nice hotel. Nothing fancy. If you just need a small, clean place to sleep then it is a good choice. Not much in the room just the basics but a nice flat screen tv. It is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest MRT station, Aljunied. Not much to do or see in the area. It is in the red light district but i did not have any problems even at night. Pretty low key. They do have a few restaurants around, the most famous being the No Name Blackboard seafood chain. You can see my review about that. All in all the Sapphire is a decent hotel at a good price in not the best area in Singapore but you can get on the MRT and go where you want fast.
