Fragrance Hotel - Selegie
very small rooms with smaller bathrooms. Suitable for backpackers if the price is within your budget. Nice pool on the roof and a good central location within Singapore.

I had 24 hours before my next flight so I stayed at this hotel. Thank goodness it was only for 1 night. One side of the bed was against the wall and there was barely enough room to walk around the other side. My suitcases were at the end of the bed which barely left any room to walk into the bathroom. The width of the bathroom was just bigger than the toilet and to have a shower you would have to sit on the toilet. The "room" curved into an L shape and the other end had a sink - the width was just a little bigger than the sink.
The rooftop swimming pool was quite large and very clean. You were seated at breakfast and without having time to think the chef bought out a fried egg with some bacon. Toast and jam was also provided as well as a cup of coffee and juice.
The location is excellent if you wish to spend time in Little India.

My tip for Singapore accommodation is if you don't like roughing it, then spend the money. We went for the cheaper option in Singapore (3 stars) and I wish we'd spent the extra $50 and stayed somewhere better. We stayed at the Fragrance Hotel Selegie, and while the staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were very clean, the size of the rooms was terrible! My feet were hanging off the bed and I'm not very tall! My boyfriend had to set up a chair at the end of the bed to rest his feet on (mind you, he is 6"2). The standard rooms have barely enough room for your bags, but if that doesn't bother you and you're looking for a cheap place to stay (only about $100-120 incl. breakfast), as I said, they're friendly and it's clean. The only other thing I didn't really like about it was the bathrooms. They're pretty much just a big shower with a toilet and sink in there so when you have a shower everything gets wet! Maybe I'm just spoilt though ... being an Aussie I've never seen anything like it before! There's a roof top pool which looked ok (it was raining for a lot of the time we were there so didn't try it out). There's also a cafe in the Hotel which obviously, being 3 stars, isn't going to be first rate but it was still ok. Actually, the chicken sausages were quite tasty! The location is good ... it's only a short walk to Little India, and from there you can catch the train from the Little India station to anywhere your heart desires!
When I said match box life style , I really mean it. If you turn over on your bed you`ll fall out of the room. This hotel takes the word budget hotel to new heights. For the price ,its definitely not worth it. Its in a good location though. Its close to little India and Bugis. You don`t have a choice for breakfast , they just give you a tradition American Breakfast and thats it. In this hotel , you could sit on the toilet , shower and shave all at the same time thats how small it is. There is a bus stop infront of the hotel and the MRT is close by. You got Bugis MRT and Little India MRT close to the hotel.
my stay has been bad. the room is too small, there' s no mini-fridge even if you wanna request, linens and sheets were not changed, and they can't even provide cold water for guests! it couldn't even pass for a motel!!! the location is not also good. it is in the red light district of singapore. the only consolation is that you are near restaurants that are cheap and delicious!!!
Fragrance Hotel Ruby is one of the many budget accommodation in Singapore. It's has more than 10 branches all over Singapore, some are actually very near to each other...but prices are much different from one another. So, we can choose any that suits our needs, budget and etc.
Hubby and me stayed here for 2 nights. It's not so bad at all especially for us who're only in the room to sleep and shower. However, it's not really advisable to those wishing to relax and wind up in the hotel coz the room is so small and the view not that great either.
Services are good, we get towels...floor mat and etc as requested quite immediately. However, they don't provide any iron in the room and there's no common ironing room too. They do provide iron upon request, but you have to pay $10 as deposit (once the iron returned, you'll get your deposit back). Can't remember if there's anything unique about this place, except it's located in the middle of Singapore's red light district, so you get to see 'them' looking forcustomer as early as 8.00 am.
For a really budget hotel with a small room, surprisingly it comes with a television, hairdryer, coffee/tea making facility, daily mineral water and a decent basics toiletries.
Last week I was stayed at this hotel. The hotel recently opened a few months ago.
Very strategic hotel location at Bugis area. Walking distance to Bugis MRT station, shopping mall (Bugis Junction, Bugis Street, Iluma etc), food stall and very close to the bus stop, you can use the bus to reach several tourist destinations in Singapore. I could walk from the hotel to the marina.
This hotel/room is very clean and safe, room cleaned daily.
This room is not too large, approximately 3x4m with double mattress size 180cm. Provided in-room LCD TV, DVD player, water heater, coffee.
Ensuite bathroom is very clean.
I recommend this hotel for travelers who're looking for cheap hotels with good facilities at strategic locations. Strategic location
Yeah...to those looking for a budget hotel...I would recommend this one. The room I had was clean, bed linen were clean too, bathroom was clean as well though it was a bit small...had to be extra careful or you might knock on something while taking shower, otherwise it's ok.
I stayed here during new year, so the price is slightly high...but for a budget hotel in Singapore I still consider this as a good bargain...for 2 nights...it was only RM370 (SGD153).
It's really a small room, there's hardly a place to put our bags...but we managed. There's a tiny wardrobe with only 1 hanger, but they provide additional hanger just outside the bathroom. For us with medium body size...the room was comfortable enough.
This is the most common question for budget travellers and backpackers to Singapore: Where can I find a good budget lodging/backpacker hostel within the confines of the city? (Denoted by the Bugis-Kampong Glam-Little India area). I decided to post the suggestions here once and for all. Please note that these are only for choices within the city. Cheap lodgings are available in other areas too, notably Chinatown and Joo Chiat near the East Coast.

This is just purely for info for any visitors to my country's shores and intending to mingle with the locals - live among Singaporeans literally. I never have to try this out - since I am a local (duh) so I have no reviews nor comments if it is any good or if the price is reasonable.
Check it out yourself! See links below.
Note: This is purely for tourist visitors only and not meant for workers/students in Singapore looking for lodging.
I work next to this hotel. Best value for money and the hotel is new just completed. Very good for tourist about US$38

Could you give me information bout Fragrance Hotel - Selegie ?
Do they have food court around that area?
and How about swimming pool in the hotel?
and any suggestion about this hotel.
Thank you :D
I have never stay in Fragrance Hotel, Selegie. If I'm not wrong it should be a budget hotel with basic amenities. But I know most hotels in Singapore are quite decent. Selegie is very near to Little India. You will find ample food court and other food eateries in that area. Food is definitely not a problem staying in S'pore.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Fragrance Hotel Selegie only opened for business in mid-January and is thus very new. Location wise, it is about okay, with both Dhoby Ghaut and Little India MRT Station about 15 ~ 20 minutes walk away. The room are very clean, but is very small (you basically have some walking room and that's it). Luckily they use LCD TVs to compensate for it.
Service wise, they have apparently moved Fragrance Hotel's more experienced staff to this hotel because they are honestly quite good.
Food wise, don't worry. There are lots of eateries (both food courts and restaurants) around it. The hotel also has a small rooftop swimming pool.
Just my 2 cents.... :-)
