The SIA website has a map, very easy to find:
www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/promo/ssh/hop-on_bus_index.jsp
There are two stops near Little India, on Sungei Rd: One near Serangoon Rd at the Tekka Center, and the other further down at Victoria St.

Hello
Every bus stop has a map. Every MRT station has a map also.
You can buy cards at the Airport MRT station. Terminal 2 or 3.
I dont think you want to buy the ez-link card.
You might try the tourist all day pass.
Good for the MRT and bus.
Do not need any documents.
In the morning it is crowded in both directions.

For cashcard, you can purchase from any 7-Eleven convenience store located all over the island. No documents is required when making purchase of the card.
There the newer card from the same provider call Nets Flashpay. Info available here.

Just ask for it at the same 7-Eleven stores.

The Verge/Little India MRT is quite a distance from Mustafa (Farrer Park MRT) so you will need to take public transport. There is a special tourist transport card available from the MRT station at the airport. This may be better value if you're around for less than 3 days.

Electrical mains are like in the UK
by Skylink
Big and clumsy looking with a switch on the mains (outlets). However, the metal prongs are thick, sturdy, and not usually bendable like in some countries that don't use the UK compatible system.
The voltage is 220V so don't use American, Canadian, Japanese appliances unless they can withstand the higher voltage (usually they can't except a few travel things, like shavers and some battery rechargers)
EZ Link Card
by SLLiew
This is an excellent investment to buy this top up card that you can use for MRT and buses in Singapore.
You pay S$15 for the card. This will give a fare value of $7. A $3 will be refunded if you return the card. $5 is a one-time non-returnable charge.
You can top up the card at MRT stations as well as Seven Elevens.
It save a lot of time trying to figure the fare, finding exact change and you will get a temporary card which you have to deposit to get your $1 back at the end of your journey.
If your EZ is in your wallet or purse, you can just swipe with your wallet or purse without taking out the card.EZ Link card is now expanded use in several beverage outlets, etc. http://www.ezlink.com.sg/

Before arriving to Singapore, its good if you know some of our local phrases.
You can also greet in our Malay or Chinese language to fellow Singaporeans.
At the website, you can also find all the necessary telephone numbers in case of emergency.
umbrellas for rent
by yukisanto
If you get caught anywhere in the rain, find a HANG TEN or Giordano shop. You can buy an umbrella from them, keep the receipt, and return it at any of their outlets at another day. The difference between what you pay for the umbrella initially and what they refund you is the rental fee.
