Great hotel with a nice view

Right next to Arab Street, and very close to some huge shopping malls you'll find the Golden Landmark Hotel. More than 20 floors high, and with so many rooms that one wouldn't think it was possible.

In a Singapore that seems to specialise on expensive hotel rooms, the Golden Landmark Hotel is a very nice place to stay. Paid about 70 euro/night for a single room, which actually was a double room (two single beds).

The room was huge, and the view from the 11th floor was just fantastic. Very good space in the bathroom too, and unlike the other hotel (see other tip) I stayed at in Singapore on this trip one wouldn't have to take off the socks when entering the bathroom.

Breakfast wasn't included, but could be bought at an extra. Didn't feel it was worth more than 10 euro/day though, so I opted to go out and eat in the area instead. Or, as I have the best girlfriend who brought me breakfast when she stopped by from work, just stay in the room and have it there.

There is a nice swimming pool, although I never got the chance to try it. The restaurant is on the same floor, and has a nice menu. Never tried it though, as the hotel were so full of people that they actually served guests out in the hall to try to fix everyone in into the restaurant.
Very much prefered to go over the street and have dinner at the amazing Indian restaurant instead.

There are WiFi internet on the hotel, but not for free. But for S$28 you could use the internet for 24 hours in the room. There are other fees for shorter time though, but not so much lower that it's worth it. Better to take 24 hours directly instead.

Service in the reception was good and the staff was very friendly, although the hotel should hire some more staff. Sometimes it took me 15-20 minutes to get help, as the reception was way too often full with people who wanted to check out, check in, ask questions, change money or, like me, buy an internet card.
I'm maybe spoiled from other hotels, but anything more than two minutes waiting in the reception is way too much according to me.
This also went for the elevators, as they always were full and not working in a very logical way. There were three different elevators next to each other, but if you were unlucky you could still be stuck waiting for one in five-six minutes. Again, I might be spoiled, but I can't really say that's okay.

There is a huge parking garage under the hotel, and guests can stay there for free. Just remember to get your complimentary card from the reception every time you want to go out with the card, as you otherwise will have to pay with the cash card.

Included in the hotel fee was two bottles of water every day, very much appreciated.

Despite the long waiting times, the good rates and nice rooms make sure this is an hotel I'll like to stay in again.

Unique Quality: Unique Smell. Katabi ang isang Mosque na magsisilbing wake up call mo sa umaga kahit wala kang schedule na lakad! Putik!

Arab District accommodations

This is another fine accommodation in the heart of the Arab district within a block of the Sultan's Mosque. It's within walking distance to the CBD and Little India.

One word for this hotel "worthless"

The staffs were useless. I stayed at this hotel for business. My clients called me many times but the staffs there said I didn't stay there. I almost lost my clients coz of them. Totally useless and not worth my money!

Near MRT Bugis Station

The staff are as efficient as Singapore itself. The outdoor swimming pool in the upper deck affords great view of Sultan Mosque and the candy colored shops.

Since I always try the public transport whenever I travel, it's a big factor for me that it's near MRT Bugis Station. It's also a few blocks away from the stop of the hop-on hop-off bus of Singapore airlines.

It's near shopping malls and hawker food stalls.

More about Golden Landmark Hotel Singapore

Beautiful accomodation

by apekovic about Golden Landmark Hotel, Singapore

Nice hotel in Arabic style of architecture. Perfect service, accommodation, facilities. Good position - near the Arab street and Bugis Village. Very close to Sim Lim square and Sim Lim Tower (technology and gadget shopping centers). Perfect connection with the city center (Orchard road) about 7-8 minutes by MRT (metro).
Facilities and services: Broadband Internet access, Limousine services, Concierge services, Meeting and banquet rooms, Doctor-on-call, Multi-storey carpark, Executive Lounge on Club Floors, Outdoor swimming pool, Express check-in/out, Porter services, Foreign currency exchange, Safe boxes, Fitness Room, 24-hour security, Laundry and dry cleaning services.
By official Singapore tourism site, Golden Landmark is on 4th place by category "best available hotels". See complete list of the top 10 on http://www-singapore.com/. I was on the room with perfect view to the pool and the city. The food is great and every dinner by the pool is new experience. You can choose a-la card dinner or fresh sea food etc. and prepare alone. Every table has the equipment (on gas) for preparing variety of dishes. There is pan and boiling pot for preparing lobster or seashells. Every night is the special, traditional music-dance show which is amazing.

I chose this hotel because it is locate near MRT Bugis. And this help us a lot for travelling. This is 3 stars hotel and it's O.K. for us. The buffet breakfast is acceptable meal. I don't know the room rate because I bought the package, but I believe it's not expensive.

Try to get higher floors on your stay like 17th or 18th storey. Rooms here are much better with recent renos on most. Near Bugis Shopping complex, Bugis MRT station and next to Arab St;

Hos is golden Landmark Hotel? In terms of location and facilities?

Re: Golden Landmark Hotel

by xuessium

HI!

The Hotel is slightly old but location wise, it's great as the nearest MRT Station, Bugis, is just about 10 minutes walk away, and there are malls and eateries aplenty around it.

Arab Street is very near for a visit but it's proximity to the Masjid Sultan will mean early prayers at around 6am-7am to start your day.

In terms of location, it's excellent. In terms of facilities, I generally advise travellers to stay away from this particular hotel these days because it's really really old.

Its rooms and amenities are not well-maintained and for some reasons, it's service decidedly took a turn for the worse after June this year. Everything about the hotel smells like stale cigarette smoke.

For similar but better hotels in similar location, you may wish to consider Allson Hotel (http://www.allsonhotelsingapore.com) or Hotel Royal @ Queens (http://www.royalqueens.com.sg).

Just my 2 cents.... :-)

True I do not really recommend Golden Landmark too. Very old. Location a bit off for shopping.

Carlton Hotel is good, newly renovated with new wing and 3 min walk from City Hall MRT.

Allson Hotel is ok, opp Carlton Hotel, slightly cheaper but smaller scale. In between City Hall and Bugis MRT.

Hotel Royal @ Queens and Oxford Hotel are behind Allson, off the main road. May be hard to find, not recommended.

If you are looking for a hotel in the pricey Orchard area, do try out Grand Central Hotel behind Meridien, may be your best pick in terms of pricing. If you can afford Meritus Mandarin it is smack right in the middle of Orchard Road with grand lobby and famous chicken rice.
