Hotel 81 chain
If you book at the Hotel 81 chain, do so
at Chinatown and Lavender, the others offer hourly rates (2 hours for $18 SGD) and located along Geylang, the unofficial red light district (unless of course that is what you re looking for!). There is some 'sin' in Singapore after all!
For backpackers or those on a tight budget, opt for the Chill Inn, where I stayed with a friendly and helpful staff. Keep in mind this is a hostel so bring your own towel, soap, etc,
they only provide a bed and pillow. They have an excellent website.

Hotel 81 - budget accommodation
Hotel 81 is a small chain that operates 11 hotels in Singapore. The rates are fairly low for Singapore. Rooms are smallish (not untypical for Singapore) but clean. Non-smoking rooms are available.
Be aware that 8 of the hotels are in the Geylang area. If you are not familiar with Geylang please refer to my Geylang 'Must See Activity' elsewhere on this page.
