.. quite a new hotel in Singapore
by snailmail about Ibis Hotel Singapore
This relatively new hotel located in Bencoolen Street, Singapore. Along the street and surrounding area are so many hotels but we decided to stay at this new one. We are in a family tour of 4, going to Singapore in our own trip for 4d/3n stay.
Our most favourite issue is its location. Very close to so many interesting places: SimLim Square (computers and electronics), OG Plaza (department store), Bugis Street (just find out this fun place by yourself!), Bugis Junction (esp. for youth shopping place), MRT station (Bugis) and .. foodstalls! Some other places of interest are Little India and Kampong Arab (you know them by their names).
If you prefer to walk, the famous Orchard Road is only about 15 mins.
Love the heritage? National museum is jut at the other end of the street. Other heritage buildings are within walking distance, incld. the famous Rafless Hotel.
Hotel is clean, kind of business hotel tho very acceptable for family stay, single restaurant with bar (oops, the bar is close at 11 pm), free wireless internet connection at the lobby and in every rooms. Staffs are helpful and services are prompt.
Second most issue is the price. Consider its a new hotel located at the city's center area, compare to other hotels the price is good and affordable. Small rooms but functionally good with quite completed standard needs. They even provide two type of electrical prongs.
Bathroom unique design, no tub, hot&cold shower only, drinkable water.
No pool nor gym .. but, hey, do you really need such things?
The first international economy hotel in Singapore
by Tabito about ibis Singapore on Bencoolen
I am one of the first lucky travellers to see this room and able to take a picture of the brand new ibis hotels in Singapore! Having lived in Australia, Thailand and other countries, I am familier with this hotel brand. I have stayed in ibis in Sydney, Wollongong, NewCastle, Melbourne etc and this ibis is looking really good! Take a look at the picture! Their opening special rate of S$148 including WiFi access really is unbeatable. Unfortunately the hotel was not open when I visited but I will definitely pick this room when I return soon! If you look at their parent company, hotel managment company Accor's website, they offer internet special rate of $138 including WiFi access! Brand new rooms with complimentary WiFi! I like the wooden flooring!
Have a Taste of Singapore
by xuessium about It's All About TASTE @ The Ibis Singapore
If you wish to chomp on local delights but yet not willing to lap up the humidity and sweat it all out, have a few slices of local taste in the comfort of warm lights and air-conditioned comfort @ "It's All About Taste" @ The Ibis Singapore.
Everything comes in a set of 3s (S$15), 4s (S$18) or 5s (S$22) where you can taste small chunks of Singapore's delicacies in your mouth. There are 17 items to choose from, all representing the creme de la creme of Singaporean cuisine.
You'll find Chilli Crab, Pepper Crab, Hainanese Chicken Rice etc.
And for $4 more, you can add a bowl of local desserts (like sweet black glutinuous rice, sweet mung beans etc) to sweeten up the end of the meal. I tried the following:
CHILLI CRAB
The claw was fresh, sweet and meaty and the sauce, flavourfully succulent.
SATAY
The chicken "kebab" was moist and tender and the peanut sauce smooth and savoury.
CUTTLEFISH & KANG KONG
This was unfortunately, an utter disappointment. The chef had not bothered to drain dry the kang kong (water convolulus) and the retained water flooded out the cuttlefish, totally robbing the sweet soybean sauce of flavour.
CHINESE CABBAGE STIR-FRIED WITH OYSTER SAUCE
The vegetable was crunchy and fresh...but where was the oyster sauce?
BBQ STINGRAY
Nicely done...the stingray was tender, nicely BBQed but not charred and served with lime and "chinchalok", a local fermented shrimp chilli paste.
New and no-frills

The Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen is a new hotel that is conveniently located to MRT (Bugis) and some great shopping =- Bugis Market and Sim Lim Square. It is also a short distance to the shopping and entertainment areas of Orchard Road, Suntec City and Clarke Quay. The hotel offers a good alternative to the traditional accommodation area of Orchard, where hotels tend to be much pricier.
It must be said that this hotel is no-frills - no doormen, no luggage service, no good restaurants, no fitness center and pool, etc. It is basic but very good accommodation. The rooms are small and the fridge a tiny thing. I would not say this place is recommended for people needing a lot of service like elderly people or those that expect round-the-clock attention, but for a family like ours with teenagers it turned out to be a fine choice. Free Wi-Fi helped keep us occupied on rainy days.
It is excellent value for money in a city known for its expensive hotels.
Early reviews were critical but it gets better and better.

Stayed for five nights in March 2009. Brand new very large hotel which opened this February 2009. Lovely modern feel and good room with high ceiling but not very large. Staff very helpful (if anything hotel is overstaffed). Rooms spotless and bathroom fittings of very high standard. Beware of the small step going going down into the bathroom. This hazard of unexpected drops is very common in Singapore streets and buildings. Wardrobe tiny and miserable. Sound insulation to street and adjoining rooms excellent but less so to hotel corridor.
It might seem pricey by international standards but good value when you know that accommodation is away over-priced in Singapore.
I did not dine in but with all Singapore on the doorstep, why should I? Convenience store right next door, Burger King up the street, the golden arches around the corner and lots of better type restaurants nearby (I would recommend tcc on Bencoolen).
For techies you have complimentary WiFi broadband throughout the hotel and Sim Lim Square, one of the world's top IT malls is at the street corner. Could you do better than that?
For the religious and curious there is within one minute's walk: A Chinese temple, a Hindu temple: two minutes away a Catholic Church and a mosque.
Transport: It is so easy and cheap to hail a taxi anywhere on the island and from the lobby. A trip to Orchard Road, Bugis Junction or Chijmes will cost you only a few Singapore dollars.
Enjoy your stay. From M.L. (Ireland)
A great 3 star hotel in great location.
by TripAdvisor Member kaybee57
My husband and I have just spent 6 nights here (I lie, still in the middle of it as I write!) and are usually the 4/5 star people but as well travelled Accor people, thought we would give this a go.
Pleasantly surprised, clean, fresh, new hotel, wonderful house-keeping staff, great breakfast. Smallish rooms (but have had smaller in HK!), FREE wireless broadband access a HUGE plus for me. All in all, yes, I would stay here again - the price was right and the location great. Bugis St markets - street behind, Little India 'over the road' MRT 'round the corner' - MUST buy an Ezilink card - great on trains and buses.
Great hotel for value for money
by TripAdvisor Member Noodlesetc
I am sitting in the Ibis typing this review, we are very surprised at what we have found we were not expecting a lot for a budget hotel, it is very basic but all you need obviously new so very clean and perfert condition, the bed was a worry to me because we wanted to share the room with our daughter the bed we have is bigger than a standard double and definitely big enough for three with room to spare. Room and bathroom small but again all you need for a short stay. The location is fantastic right amongst Singapore life and a short walk to MRT and surrounded by shops and restaurants, overall we are glad we have tried this hotel and would definitely return if money was a factor, although we do miss a swimming pool so will be off to the Sheraton for the 2nd part of our stay in Singapore but having both to compare they are good for their own reasons.
Good value budget hotel

Perfectly functional hotel. Smallish rooms, linoleum floors but ok. Free internet and a good location. A pity that the lifts are very tempermental and the management seems to think that this is OK. It took me 20 minutes to get down from my room 2x
Ibis - the well placed hotel
by TripAdvisor Member Shockers
This hotel is a friendly well run operation and when something needs attending to it is dealt with quickly. There is a bar and restaurant facility, coin operated laundry facility and a free internet service. The hotel is positioned on the edge of the Bugis district with it's temples, market stalls, shopping malls and an MRT station (10 mins) - all life is here. MRT trains and busses are regular but why bother you would be hard pressed to spend Stg £5. on a taxi in central Singapore.
TIPS. Alcohol is a wicked price - bring a bottle or two. Bring a small pop up unbrella - if you get caught in a shower you will know all about it.

Agree. The IBIS is a good hotel.
Try to include a visit to the historic Raffles Hotel, and enjoy a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, where it originated. The hotel has a long history intertwined with Singapore's history.

Hi,Thanks Raffles is great choice, I believe. But this time I would like to save my money for few holidays in phuket.
My requirement is neat and clean non smoking hotel with a comfortable bed at night for good sleep.I will be busy all day at the meeting, and I think IBIS will give good sleep at night.
My ideal room will be around US$100-150 per night.

Just check what rates you can get when you book. I pass the IBIS every day and have seen the rates move from S$148 to $288! It is a brand new custom built hotel that only opened in November. It is at the bottom of orchard road (10 min to Dhoby Ghaut MRT) the same distance from Little India - so very central.
Enjoy your trip.
