Great Hotel
by stappm
Loved this place - it was a little off the beaten path ( in the financial district and a subway ride to Orchard Rd) but walking distance to Chinatown.
Great place, modern decor, clean large room! Nice fitness center and great pool.

Central and Funky
by MikeAtSea
I stayed in this hotel once and enjoyed it being modern, centrally located in walking distance to shops, china town and restaurants.
The hotel is very modern, high speed internet access and service is good. I found it a little cheaper then other hotels in Singapore - yet it does not have the same luxury - but certainly is great value for money.
Unique Quality: I think if someone wants a funky modern hotel at a good rate - this is it!
Directions: The hotel is next to the Apex towers - down the road from the Malaysia Rail Station

I stayed here couple times besides staying at Amara Hotel. I like this hotel as well. Room is very good and price isn't as expensive as hotels in Orchard area
It's 5 mnutes walking to the MRT station
Breakfast is very good :)

A decent business hotel with a very nice lobby and stylish room, but the staff at the check-in counter were not very friendly, training for the hotel front-line service pple is recommended.
Unique Quality: nice pool + spa centre

Really good hotel
by rednas
Personally I like these kind of hotels. They are not really fancy, but they offer just what you expect from a hotel for a reasonable price.
Internet connection is available in the rooms, good breakfasts, well located.

Central to Business District
by cybergenic
A fairly cool place to stay.
We took the M-Club offer which gave a choice of either city or ocean view.
Free broadband 1 laptop only
2 Complimentary cocktails and canipes each night
Access to the M-Loungue
2 Breakfasts each day
All taxi drivers knew exactly how to find this hotel.
Ultra modern interior design.
Comfortable rooms with LCD TV, DVD player and aircon.
Staff were friendly enough.
Check www.wotif.com for best rates
Unique Quality: The best part of this hotel was the breakfasts.
Wow....
What a spread.
You name it.
All fresh ready to go.
The view was meant to be on the city side.
It turned out that our view was overlooking Singapores major shipping terminal.
This ended up becoming an interesting site.
It is open 24 X 7
From a distance it is like a constantly evolving lego puzzle. Giant cranes slowly moving massive containers around the gigantic shipping yard / port as ships seem to magically appear and dissapear.
The M-Loungue had no atmosphere and no view.
We were able to get taxis out the front of M Hotel very easily.
The Japanese restaurant was ok but very expensive. Much better to go out to eat in Singapore city.

Singapore Sling

Stayed here recently for the New Year, travelled by car from Malaysia to Singapore. The place was easy to find (exit Malaysia from the 2nd link, travel straight on AYE and keep a lookout for keppel road).
The check in was hassle free. no complaints. I guess the only complaint that i would have is, driving a Malaysian car into M hotel is a very tedious process. You have to intercom to tell them that you are driving a Malaysian Car and room number, the car park attendant will then take his leisurely time to come up and lift the barrier up. Going out requires the same process. Now imagine when you have a line of other cars waiting behind you.
The room was spacious and very modern. The views are so-so, even if you get sea view, it's actually the shipping docks. The pool and gym adequate, don't expect an Olympic size pool. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I paid SGD188 a night with complimentary breakfast, fairly priced in my opinion. The breakfast spread was the same daily when I stayed. Other than that, I'd recommend this fellow travelers.

M Hotel (Formerly Copthorne Harbor View)
This hotel is very affordable in American standards at under $100 US a night. This is a fairly new hotel. At least the name and owners are. The interior is modern and the rooms are very nice however a bit on the smaller side.

Which hotel should I choose? and Transport questions
by junwen
Hi,
Which hotel would you think is better, overall, considering everything- location, size...etc
1) Plaza Parkroyal
2) M Hotel
3) New Park Hotel
4) Copthorne Kings
Thanks- and yes, I need to find out about transport- Is the EZ Link card the only way to travel on MRT?
Thanks in advance!

If you can afford it, you really should spend one night at Raffles: apart from the shopping in Orchard Road, it's the best tourist attraction in Singapore and it's my favourite hotel in the whole world. Failing that, the hotel desk at the airport has some great last-minute discount offers.

In terms of location, I prefer Plaza Parkroyal as you can walk to Bugis, Suntec City, City Hall. The nearest MRT station is Bugis MRT with is about 5-7 min walk away. There is also lots of food nearby. YOu can find food along Purvis Street, Liang Seah street etc.
M Hotel is in the financial district. The nearest MRT station is Tanjong Pagar station. The place is dead on weekends.
New Park Hotel is in Little India.
Copthorne Kings is a little inconvenient if you need to be near an MRT station.
You can buy single trip tickets at the MRT station. For every single trip ticket, you need to place a $1 deposit (that is $1 plus actual fare). At the destination station, you can insert the used single trip ticket into the ticketing machine to obtain the $1 refund.

I would also go along with Plaza Parkroyal.
Alternatively, you can also check out Grand Plaza Parkroyal, situated near City Hall. It's newer than Plaza Parkroyal and both the Parkroyal hotels are owned by the same group of companies.
