5 Star Hotel with rude & unfriendly Staff

I have been to many 5 star hotels around the world but never had as terrible service as I have experienced with MBS.
MBS group reservation team (on the phone) completely ignored special guest requests & extremely rude!!!
Either MBS has poor management or the staff don't have any ideas about how it is to be part of hospitality business in the first place!!!
The breakfast service with food buffet are not good either, the restaurant is very crowded, the tables are messy with dirty plates, foods are not good quality...

The hotel is too huge to have personal service... more like a factory or zoo. Guests are treated like chickens not as kings. Long queues to check in & check out. Reception areas are overcrowded. There is no lobby, no place to seat.

If you expect a real 5star hotel with excellent service, choose other hotels... they are lots of much better hotels in Singapore which costs the same or lower, worth far better than MBS!!!

The only thing which is attractive for tourists is the infinity pool... but even that is overcrowded!
My recommendation is only to come & visit, enjoy the views at the Skypark but don't stay there. It's nothing special other than that.

Totally NOT recommending this 'so called' hotel & will NEVER come back!!!

New and nice

Stayed in 2 types of rooms.
One is the deluxe room. The room is okay; space is just right. Since it is a fairly new hotel then it does contain basic and new equipment. Stayed in the lower floors (6th) so not very much of a view.
One is the premier room. I'd say premier, you'd definitely feel the difference vs the deluxe room, this is good for bringing in other people to stay and even the toilet has bath tub which is really nice

Unique Quality: great skypark, near marina bay mall and casino, etc.

Ultra luxe

what else but pleasant, why paying for a standard room for $ 550 a night in US Dollars will cost you an arm and a leg but is definitely worth every penny! just stayed one night in this ultra-luxe 7 star hotel and the rest in Budget Oxford hotel in Bras Basah area. There are only 2 seven star hotels in the world and the other is the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Check in time is 3:00 pm and chek out is 11:00 am. Marina Bay Sands had it's Grand Opening on Feb. 17, 2011 and is one of the most anticipated around the world. This hotel has a distinction of having an aircraft carrier like sky park at the top which makes it soooo unique!

Unique Quality: they serve a better singapore sling than the original in raffles hotel and more expensive at $ 32 than the $ 25 in raffles hotel. the hotel has 2500 rooms and various suites and again the cheapest standard room without a view of the marina bayfront (the view is on the South China Sea Side) will cost you 550 US dollars. The infinity pool at the 52scnd floor is simply the best at the Ku De Ta Lounge in the Sky Park was voted one of the ten most liked spots in the world by the new york times.

Guide needed..

by mike1927

Hi - my wife and mother-in-law will be in Singapore for a couple of days in September. Does anyone know of a guide who might be able to give them a half day tour of the City on the 24th? Any help much appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi there. We specialize in airport transfer of passengers' luggage from airport to hotel and from hotel to airport or to any other destination. Manpower is supplied with all of our services.
We can also arrange for Passenger Vans for transportation for tours of Singapore.

Pls email me at manpreetanfield@gmail.com for a friendly discussion.

Thank You.

Firstly taxi is easy from airport to hotel.

Secondly check out www.viator.com they do tours all over asia. and are very reliable and there is a city tour for singapore. Mind you singapore is very easy and safe to get around and if they have something in particular they wish to see it may be easier to use the MRT or a taxi.

Cheers Heather

Travel Tips for Singapore

never been this clean

by aalayaa

when it comes to cleaness, singapore can be nominated as one of the cleanest place on earth. people throw garbage into the bin and if not, they will fine you.
eventhough the last time i was in singapore some places are not as clean as i expected, places for tourists like orchard road on the picture still positively clean.

Famous Bamboo Scaffolding.

by kiwi

The famous bamboo scaffolding was an unusual sight for me, but has a long useful history in the construction of highrise around Singapore.
I have been told that with it's strength and elasticity, bamboo is in fact better than steel constructed scaffolding. Seeing the locals erect this masterpiece was an amazing experience. Here is something of ancient technology standing up in modern times - I love it!!

Singlish

by aukahkay

If you stroll down Orchard Road on a Saturday afternoon, listen to the conversations among youngsters and teenagers. You know that they are speaking English, but a very strange form of English with unintelligble words, idioms and sentence structure. You are right - they are speaking Singlish, a vernacular form of English. It consists of a unique blend of Malay, Fujian dialect, and broken ungrammatical English. Singapore is a multi-racial society with a Chinese majority of 85%, Malays 12% and the remaining are Indians and Caucasians. Because of the successful ethnic integration policies in public housing, education and in the community, people of various ethnic groups have inadvertently picked up a few words and phrases from the language or dialect of another ethnic group. The result is a cacaphony of loosely-strung words and phrases, which is understood by the true-bred Singaporean but sounds gibberish to the native English speaker.
Don't be alarmed if you are unable to understand Singlish. Ask the person to repeat himself again slowly and if necessary, to explain himself more precisely.
Personally, I do not speak Singlish, but I hear it everyday at work, in the supermarkets, at shopping centers and other public places.
An enterprising Singaporean has compiled an on-line Singlish dictionary, the URL of which I am listing below for your handy reference.

Singlish boleh lah!!

Henna Tatoo

by imstress

Hennat Tatoo or Mehendi is an ancient ritual and a form of art dated back 5,000 years ago.

It is considered good luck in India, Middle East and North Africa. No Indian wedding is ever complete without Henna Tatoo.

The crush henna leaves combined with teas and herbs are made into a cooling paste used to creat contemporary designs and exotic patters.

You can have your Henna done at Little India.

Volleyball ?

by ChuckG

Besides gym, jogging, cycling...it's not like you will do alpine skiing or rafting in Singapore...but Sentosa Island is great for beach volleyball. Bring some friends or make some on the spot. You will have a great time playing volleyball ! Swimsuit !
