There are two YMCA hotels in Singapore. Have stayed in both.
This one at Steven's Road is the better and more expensive option.
Easy to get to Orchard Road by bus.

Do not use Metropolitan YCMA's on-line reservation
Do not use the on-line reservation system Metropolitan YMCA Singapore has on their web site.
I made a reservation on-line using their web site, and within 48 hours of making the reservation, canceled it. They charged my credit card, and when I inquired about the charged, they claimed they never got the cancellation. Even when I forwarded them proof of the cancellation, they refused to take the charge off. I was offered an upgrade on a room on my next stay, which I found a rather asinine offer considering the distance away from Singapore I live.
I can't really comment on the hotel, from what I can tell it seems to be in a good location, but whatever you do, do not use their on-line reservation system. It seems to have problems and they seem unwilling to correct the problems that do occur.

The Metropolitan Y Hotel is located at Stevens Road which is a bus ride to Orchard Road. It has Standard, Superior, Deluxe, and Suite which caters to all types of budget for the traveller.
The price maybe slight cheaper than other hotels as it does not occupies the prime land in Orchard Road.

Singapore YMCA

Has anyone stayed at the YMCA Singapore Orchid Road with a family. We are thinking about it with two children. What is the pool like and is the air conditioning adequate. Any other tips appreciated.

Hi,
I stayed there in 1999 and it was OK but I found it expensive. The room was about 40-50 British Pounds per night (2 people sharing) and it was fairly hot too.
The food was OK (but the street stalls on Orchard road are fantastic and very cheap).
I did not use the pool so I cannot comment on it.
I hope this helps and if it has changed in the last 5 years and my memories are off the mark, I do apologise :-)

I wonder if you are looking for budget hotel. If so, I wont recommend YMCA. Though one might have the impression that it's a budget hotel, it's not so in Singapore. The rates that you are going to pay, you are better off getting a hotel. Just submit a new post for budget hotels. You might want to try Hotel 81 at Chinatown which is a budget hotel.

If you have children and would like to consider a homestay rather than a hotel, I can offer you accomodation.
No pool, but house with garden, bathroom attached and air-con. Beach about 15 minutes walk away, Easy access to anywhere in Singapore.
