Hi, welcome to Singapore.

Years ago I checked out on some local service apartments for an overseas colleague coming here to work.

I have fond memories of Orange Grove, at one end of Orchard Road.

You may like to have a look at this link. And under Shangri-La group, they have a few properties, hope you will find one you like.

All the best, and wishing you and family a wonderful visit here. God Bless.

Travel Tips for Singapore

A Melting Pot of Cultures

by a60

One of the great things about Singapore is that there are so many different cultures. If you feel like immersing yourself in India then go to Little India for the day. If you want a fix of China then go to Chinatown. Arab Street is mystical and for a feel of Malaysia go to the Malay District. There are so many streets and shops to explore. Talk to the locals and eat at the many food places that are everywhere. Visit temples and cultural centres. You will not be bored in Singapore. My fondest memory of Singapore is talking to the locals. From the people at our hotel (Allson), the lady in the local 7 11, all the taxi drivers and shopkeepers etc. This is what is magical about Singaore. People like to talk and tell you about their city, and they also want to know where you come from and what it is like there. It's nice to meet people from different cultures and find out what their lives are like. I have been here twice and I intend to come again.

Hindu Clothing and accesories

by diageva

SARI Traditional Indian outfit which is a five and a half metre piece of fabric draped around of the body of a woman tied like a pleated skirt with one end of the fabric thrown over the shoulder.
CHOLI short-fitting blouse worn with the sari
POTTU A mark worn on the forehead by Indian women, a symbol of Hinduism and marriage.

Tipping

by cjg1

For the most part tipping is not done here. You can sometimes leave the change up to the next dollar but almost all places charge 10% service charge. The only place that I found that did not charge this was no cheaper than the places that did. But used the statement we dont charge it to make you want to tip. Thereby making them more expensive.

threading

by trisanna

Many women, mostly Indian get their eyebrows threaded. Many feel that using threading to clean up their eyebrows is much more exact than waxing. The woman, who does the threading. Uses white thread and puts the end of it in her mouth. She then makes a loop with the thread that rips out the hair. I actually got it done and hurts less waxing.

You can find places all over Little India that does threading.

Volleyball anyone?

by kphstar

Build up you nerves and try out the sexy sport of beach volleyball. Actually it's only sexy when the lady a playing. Otherwise it's jsut sweaty guys giving each other Hi-Fives.

Actually, if you can play, beach volleyball is a excellent game and should be tried. I've tried nd can say that I've failed. Equipments are generally there when you get there.
