Buying Watches
by slipknotz281
Hi all!
m going to s'pore next week for a 3 day study trip, and i heard that the watches over there are cheap :) can anyone tell me which malls / shops have the best prices? i'm into guess/ esprit/ fossil brands and don't really like to bargain, so the fixed price stores will do.
btw m from malaysia, so do you think is wise to buy a watch here, or should i just go to bukit bintang? ;) thanks

Best to buy in the jewellery shops in the big malls.
Make SURE that you are getting the REAL thing- Singapore is full of fakes.
You should try at Changi airport- duty free there.

Hi !!
In Singapore - You can try Mustafa at Serangoon Road. Anything you buy @ Orchard malls will be expensive.
In KL you can go to Bukit Bintang as you mentioned to Sungei Wang Mall. But chk out the fake factor in this place.

Great information for Tourists
by Linda_T
We grabbed a free magazine at the airport called Real Destination - Singapore and it turned out to be the most valuable of the tourist information mags. It had a great map as well as suggested walking routes in each of the different area's. There is also a website The Real Destination - Singapore

T shirts and bermudas is ok for most places. If you plan to have dinner at some 5* hotel, clubbing or catching a performance, smart casual will suffice. No jackets needed.
Singaporeans usually prefer casual or light wear largely due to the weather.
Living in complexes.
by kiwi
Coming from rural New Zealand, I found it quite different to live in a complex. This is a series of highrise apartment buildings, and in the centre are often found recreation areas for the residents to relax. Most always there is a swimming pool or two!!
Another thing about this way of living is that they are usually guarded complexes with security gates and no casual visitors or unwanted guests.
Very very different to my own way of life, but interesting all the same.
Windsurfing in Singapore
by prozgen
singapore is quite a decent place to windsurf.
basically u got to go on a Formula board as the wind isnt that good compared to other renowned destinations. typical sail sizes is 9-12 m just to give u an idea.
however there is 2 monsoon seasons where the wind picks up to abt 12 knots.
the SW monsoon is from July-Oct & the NE monsoon is in end of Dec-Feb
the location is along east coast beach. the following 3 clubs r located at the stretch from the hawker centre(near bedok jetty) all the way up in the direction of changi.
1)Pasta fresca sailing club
2)People's Association Sea Sports club
3)SAFRA sea sports club.
the second place is most frequented. basically it has storage facilities & provide courses for the beginers. if u want to store your boards, this place is the cheapest to store. boards - sing $30/mth. sail w/o boom - $5/mth. most pple in the club have their own gear. the club rents out beginner Mistral Prodigy & Fanatic ~245Litre widestyle boards only which is usually rented by the beginners. if u want to get your own board, the club has a surf shop. u could also get used boards from members of the club thru word of mouth or club otice boards or order online.
