Is there any cheap hotels / accomodations around Buona Vista MRT / National University Hospital ?

by SVO2006

Hi Everyone,

I want to ask you something.

Do any of you know if there are cheap hotels / accomodations

around Buona Vista MRT or National University Hospital...?

Or at least places that close to National University Hospital

in Singapore.

Thanks for your help.

Best Wishes,

Suzana

HI! Suzana:

There are 2 hotels near the area:
The newly opened Santa Grand Hotel and the old Pasir Panjang Inn.

Both do not have websites but I attach contact details below:

Santa Grand Hotel: http://www.iscslp2006.org/accommodations.htm
Pasir Panjang Inn:http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home/apps/hotel_search.html?pageName=Hotel&buttom=details&id=174&cards=1,2,5,6

Please avoid Pasir Panjang Inn unless a lot about it has changed over the last few years. A few years ago, some friends and I were attending an alumnus dinner at NUS (near NUH) and was thinking about booking a rooms there to spend the night and catch up because it's cheap. That's when I realised that it's actually a love motel of sorts.

Just my 2 cents.... :-)

Travel Tips for Singapore

Unless you love crowds..

by cmcarney

avoid the tourist places like the zoo and Sentosa on Sundays. Sunday is the only common day everyone has off and of course everyone wants to go out so on a small island it makes for congestion. I stuck to the nature preserves/hiking trails on Sundays.
In general, I would suggest mornings to start your adventure, not only do you avoid crowds but you can get in most of your sightseeing before it gets too hot or the common afternoon shower.

X'mas tree

by Umea6

I was in S'pore at the begining of November and I was surprised to see this huge X'mas tree. It was funny seeing a X'mas tree at 30 degrees. nevertheless it was decorated beautifully... I guess they want to make all the tourists from the west to feel just like at home and make them spend even more money....

Enjoy the sunshine

Singapore is a tropical country and hence light clothing will be enough.Perhaps bringing an unbrella would be useful as slight rain may came unexpected. Toiletries etc.. are readily available all around Singapore. There are Watsons personal stores and Guardian pharmacy are located islandwide. Fear not,if you did not enough films or need any photo developing services, most photos center in Singapore offered digital developing services and they are often ready for collection within 1 or 2 days. They are even ready for collection within an hour or so,however, you are need to pay extra for such express services.

breathe in the laidback atmosphere

by parisientaxis

Changi village is a somewhat laidback place where one can escape from the virtual concrete jungle that is singapore, for a taste of what it perhaps once was when it was less developed.
Don't worry, even if you are not interested in seeing a less built up side of the island, it is wonderful to simply take a walk through the village and the beaches surrounding it, and watch the world (and the numerous ships) pass by.

If you are more adventurous, take a walk along the main road up a slope, pass the le meridien changi village hotel, and continue along the main road till the end. You will eventually arrive at this series of boardwalks along the sea. It is really quite a sight, especially during sunrise and sunset. Walking along the boardwalks, you will feel as if you are walking along the shoreline of a simple laidback village, without the hassle of having to go over bumps and rocks.

Should you want to venture to the outlying island of pulau ubin, which i do recommend should you be a nature lover, you can catch a ferry at the changi village jetty for a mere fee of S$2 per way.

At the end of the day, do not hesitate to try out the numerous hawker stalls at the changi village area.
