It has become more prevalent in the recent years to promote employment for the handicaps. While it is in a way a good sign of more mobility for the handicaps here, let's hope it is not at all a means of disengaging their rights as recepients of charity. I don't know how other religions view this, but for the Moslems, the handicaps, no matter how mobile are still deserving recepients of charity : )If you are a wheelchair user, please note that though efforts are being done by MRT to make their stations wheelchair-friendly, not all stations may as yet be. I noted so far these stations that have been improved:
1. All stations of North-East line(NEL)
2. Changi Airport
3. Singapore Expo
4. Kallang
5. Aljunied
6. Eunos
7. Simei
8. Kembangan
9. Bedok
10. Tanah Merah
11. Tampines
12. Pasir Ris
13. Dhoby Ghaut
14. Somerset
15. Novena
16. Toa Payoh
17. Bukit Batok
18. Bukit Gombak
19. Redhill
20. Queenstown
21. Clementi
22. Dover
23. Boon Lay
24. Lakeside
25. Chinese Garden
So I guess you'll need to stay within these routes!
But even if you get by the MRT travel, you may find it difficult to travel through some walkways. This staircase along Citylink Mall, for example, is a rare sighting of a wheelchair facility. Lucky most of Singapore is flat ground.
