There are many restaurants and food outlets in both terminals, everything from sushi to masala dosai (very expensive masala dosai at $8).
Anyway,it all comes down to what terminal you are flying in/out of. Terminal 1 is the older of the two and there are less shops/restaurants there. Terminal 2 is very nice. This is the terminal for Singapore airlines. There is a koi pond, surrounded by orchids and also a cactus garden. Lots more shops and restaurants.
If you are flying out of terminal 1-don't despair. If you have time you can either walk to the other terminal-by a long bridge or take the tiny automated train. They just completed a large renovation project and Terminal 1 is looking a lot better.
Currently, they are building a new terminal-which will be for discount airlines. This is supposed to open in the next few years.
Coming into Singapore is quite easy. Customs is quite efficient. Even though it can be lax-be careful on what you bring into Singapore. Bringing drugs into Singapore is a capitol offense-no joke! Every few weeks there are articles in the Straits Times about people, who are on trial for bringing drugs into the country.
Any pets/animals have to be quarantined here for 30 days. So leave Fido at home.
