Sweaty, Smelly and Crowded

I stayed at the Summer Tavern, both in the dormitory (S$35) as well as a double room (S$65).

Was very disappointed considering the positive reviews I have read (I think the owners/staff contribute to the online reviews a bit). I am very tolerant, but the place had a sweaty stench throughout. The airconditioning in the dormitory was not turned on until 10:30pm and without fans and tiny windows it made for an uncomfortable and terrible atmosphere.

Showers and bathrooms were dirty. Staff seemed disinclined to check them, only very rarely.

I could go on, but considering the competition elsewhere I hope people will avoid this place. I would reccommend Sleepy Sams.

Unique Quality: Location is good, that is all.

Premier Hostel

Well i've never stay here before. The owner is a friend of my boyfriend and we went there for a visit after a day of cycling. The owner name is Khalil and he's frm Jordan. A very friendly guy. He used to manage a 5 star hotel but now he decides to manage his own hotel and that's where Summer Tavern come about. He also won for "Best Small Hostel" @ International Hoscar Awards 2004.
For a backpacker i would definitely recommend you this place coz its not only cheap but u also get a free breakfast, free local telephone calls & broadband internet access, laundry facilities, in-house library, baggage storage, security lockers, rooftop terrace etc.
I've looked at the places and it is pretty clean and well maintained. If i'm a backpacker i would stay here. The dorms/rooms are non-smoking dormitaries and the rooms are fully air-conditioned. Ample shower and restroom facilities are available on each floor.

Unique Quality: The hostel which provides bed & breakfast and is entrally located within trendy downtown Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. Set in a beautiful traditonal shophouse with lounge and bar on the ground floor. It provides a cosy and relaxed ambience where travelers can put down their bags, rest and migle with other fellow travellers. Provides easy access to transportation (MRT, buses, taxis).
Nearby Amenities:-
-Raffles City
-One Fullerton Hotel
-Esplanade
-Merlion
-City Hall
-Chinatown
-Funan IT mall
-Suntec City
-Museums
