Well located for the riverside nightlife, bars and resturants (and the business district).
Small rooms but clean and comfortable.
Restaurant can get very crowded, but the outside terrace area is picturesque, and the service is good. Very large menu selection.
Unique Quality: Good large pool.
Broadband internet access.
The hotel was in a fantastic location, walk to Chinatown, next door to underground rail service.
If you have a late flight you can use the hospitality room (off the laundry) for a shower to freshen up. We checked out at 1.00pm and spent the afternoon lazing by the pool before showering to leave for the airport at 5.30pm.
Unique Quality: Pool area is lovely, with a view over Clarke Quay
Directions: Clarke Quay area
I chose the Merchant Court for a 2 night stopover on my way back to Brisbane on the recommendation of friends, VT advice and Tripadvisor reviews.
I was not disappointed.
Though the hotel adjoins a major construction site, it never intruded into my stay.
The reception was efficient and I was out on the streets and into the Quays very quickly. Heavy jan. rain kept me close to the hotel but there were plenty of bars within a sheltered walk, even across the river to Clarke Quay.
Breakfasts served in the Ellenborough Markets were quite good.
Taxis are easy to obtain in the evening near the hotel entry.
not bad , it seems like 5 star and the rooms r well furnished. It's located near Central District area and boat quay n Clake quay.
The rooms r nice ! so is the spa :) I felt a little cramp for the superior rm about the way the stuff were placed. The entrance was rather small. .
Stayed in this hotel for >2 weeks in 2004 and I got a club level room. It worked out to be around $95/night, with breakfast, 2 pc laundry and club room access.
Room was in superb condition and service, as expected, was excellent.
The hotel is located at one end of Clarke Quay. You get to walk to the bars and restaurants located there, and also there's an MRT about 2 minute walk from the lobby which means easy access to pretty much the whole country.
Directions: MRT stop "Clarke Quay"
SwissĂ´tel Merchant Court is ideally located by the bank of the Singapore River and within walking distance from the Clarke Quay MRT station. Here, you can have easy access to the many pubs and resturants at the Clarke Quay and is only minutes away from Orchard Road.
Directions: Alight at Clarke Quay MRT station
Although I prefer the M hotel, this one is closer to Boat Key in case you feel like going out. Taxi's are very cheap, so you decide if this is an argument or not.
My friends recommend this hotel because it's near Clark Quay and MRT....and easy to walk to Chinatown, City Hall.
Unique Quality: Good taste....& Great views...from guest room you can see Clark Quay
Directions: near Clark Quay.
Great Hotel and well located to town and shopping. They run a shuttle bus to the shopping arears every 15 minutes.
Rooms are above average and the service good.
Unique Quality: Pool, views, service and Cafe were great

Hi, my husband and I have decided to stay at the Swissotel Merchant Court in Singapore next month. Has anyone stayed there? If so what did you think? Was it near the MRT and Food Courts etc? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Sharon
oh...you have finally decided.
it's a good hotel....and near the north-south MRT line.
Near Clarke Quay.
You'll like it. It's not at the heart of Orchard Road but who cares.
(It's rather near Chinatown).
it is a very no\ice notel, you can find restaurants and food court in Clark Quay which is just in front of the hotel.
You can aslo go tp Chinatown and get some real local hawker food......mrt is just next to the hotel.
Hi Sharon, great choice, every Singaporean know this hotel because they have a fabulous dinner buffet there that gets booked one month in advance! Well, the rooms are not too bad either, if you're lucky you'll get a nice view of the Singapore River and Clark Quay ( this is where you can find good satay ).
As for MRT, yup, it's just next to Clark Quay MRT and the next station ( Chinatown MRT ) is practically a food haven. Check out the hawker food there, it's good, cheap and convenient.
HI eveyone, thank you all so much for replying. I really appreciate it. I am really looking forward to the stay there now.
