HORRISH! AVOID!!!

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

My PA booked this hotel on a short notice, because most other hotels were already booked. I have not had a chance to read the reviews at this point but she said it was rated 3.5-4 stars (self-rated, obviously) and I had nothing to worry about.

I arrived in Little India, Singapore in the evening and was SHOKED!!! This hotel was the most neglected crap-hole I have ever seen in Singapore. I would rate it at ZERO star. Not even one! Horrish tiny dark stinky lobby with a very rude receptionist, a tiny elevator with floor board that fall apart. Continued down a very narrow corridor that smells like either human or rat urine, into a tiny, old, dusty room. I checked the toilets - they have not been properly cleaned since...probably dozen stays back, hair ball still in the drain and bits of someone's toothpaste in the sink. Someone's hair under the sheets. Disgusting stench of mould and cigarette smoke in the room, which seems to linger permanently. No matter what I did with the air-con, the smell was just getting worse and becoming unbearable.

I could not stay there longer then 5 minutes. Took my staff and ran out to a Tandoory restaurant across the road which had a free wi-fi to book a different hotel. I asked for a refund - Claremont refused and failed to answer to any of my emails. called a few times later they were just hanging up.

PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE DUMP! DISGUSTING, DIRTY OLD PLACE WITH RUDE PIGS AS STAFF!!!

Budget Accommodation

by explore_discover about EX Alexandria Hotel Now Aspinals Hotel

It was long time ago, it was Alexandria Hotel in front of Mustafa Stores, clean and comfortable bed, Air conditioned, TV, Tiny Attached bath which suited my budget,

I Paid SG$55.00 that time, now its re named as Aspinals Hotel (Managed by Claremont Hotel Singapore) and I think it is still good price at SG$80.00 for Single Standard Room Easy Access to MRT and surrounded by many food outlets.

Transportation

Do taxis in Changi airport take credit cards? Specifically American Express.

Re: Transportation

by ruffled

hullo! There are two taxi companies in S'pore that do accept credit and ATM cards (includ Amex) -- look out for Comfort Taxis (Blue) and CityCab (Yellow). They also tend to be the most common cabs you will see. When you're at the airport you could ask the guys at the taxi stand to help you spot the right ones.
Also when I get into these cabs, I just usually check with the driver that their machiney-thingies are indeed working just to be avoid any hassle at the end of the trip (most often they do!)

cheers!

There is a pre-paid taxi booking office in Changi Airport (arrivals hall).
And yes- CC are accepted.

Approximately S$18.00 to S$38.00 .(excluding surcharges) one way to the city and takes approximately 30 minutes. A midnight surcharge of 50% of the metered fare is charged on top of fares between midnight and 6am. An airport surcharge of S$3 is charged on top of fares. On Fridays to Sundays between 5pm and midnight this increases to S$5.

Limousine Taxis:

A premier taxi service operates from 6am to 2am daily to any destination in Singapore for a flat rate of S$35. A surcharge of S$1 is charged per additional stop. There is a Limousine Service Counter in the Arrivals hall.

Buses:
The Airport Shuttle operates a city/hotel transfer service regularly from 6am to 2am. The Airport Shuttle Service Counter is located in the Arrivals hall.
Fares start from S$9 per adult
Train MRT Trains operate to the city centre from Terminal 2.
Services operate from 6am to midnight and depart regularly.
Fares start at S$2.70 one way.

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) train service operates to the city centre and various destinations in Singapore. Services operate from 5.30am to 11.15pm. Proceed to Terminal 2 for the Changi Airport MRT station and change to a citybound train at Tanah Merah Station. Fares start at S$3.

On top of what Ruffled said, SMRT taxis also take credit cards and has online pre-booking if required.

Travel Tips for Singapore

Very Efficient Transportation System

by jltan

Singapore has one of the most efficient transportation in the world. Its network of buses (numbered) and trains is enough for a traveler to explore this island-city-state. One farecard can be used in any of the public transportation. Food! Food! And More Food! Singapore has also a pretty good mix of Chinese, Malay, Western, and Indian food. Singapore's diversity is reflected on its food. Hawkers are everywhere!

Small Token

by JuraidahJ

We practise bringing a small gift token when visiting someone at the comfort of their home.

You don't have to buy anything expensive but a small gift/token will be appreciated a long way.

It can be in form of food, household or anything that you think will be approperiate.

However, please note that if you're visiting Muslim Family - no pork, wine or liquor. Hindus / Buddist - No beef. You may want to check all these before buying.

Ain't Bring Anything

by rinxie

An empty lugguage will suffice to hold all your souvenirs and a new wardrobe..lol. For those who can afford, maybe you need not bring anything but an empty lugguage. You can buy most if not all the things which you would normally need to bring for travel. Pharmacies are everywhere...
