Boutique hotel in Singapore

Stayed here last week based on a recommendation from a friend; and I have to honestly say I was quite disappointed. For the price of the room I possibly expected too much. I arrived while it was raining, and had to remove, then carry my bags from the taxi to the front desk; and then if that wasn’t enough had to twice ask the reception if someone could bring them to the room. I suspect they want you to bring them up yourself. The room was exceptionally small, so small that the desk chair could not be pulled from the desk; not good, since I had to work two of the four mornings I was registered. So small, that when I was packing to leave, I continually hit my legs on the bed and the desk. No wireless for this hotel, so had to use the internet wall jack which was too far from the desk causing the room supplied cable about 40 cm short of the desk. I had to sit on the bed and hold my PC on my lap. I brought this to the attention of the front desk, and was told all PC cables are the same size! The room air conditioning did not work, and Singapore is not exactly the best city to be in under those circumstances.

Unique Quality: On the plus side is location is convenient for those wanting to stay in or near city centre.

trendy boutique accomodation

go for the boutique SCARLET Hotel ! Chinatown is the old Singapore, Orchard road is any international city, downtown city is high rise office blocks; besides the Subway in Spore is efficient - enjoy the food centres along the canals and rivers, night food stalls are fun; remember to let the Spore VT members of your arrival, they're extraordinarily sociable, and a minefield of info ; have fun !

Central Business District's Boutique Hotel

Located amidst the high rise office buildings in the Central Business District (what Singaporeans call the CBD area), The Scarlet Singapore is a relatively new boutique hotel that's recieved nods of approval from most guests. I haven't stayed here personally but this hotel's a stone's throw away from where I work and I've always thought it was a pretty hotel. Heard from friends that despite the rooms being smaller than normal (refering to your 5 star hotels), it's unique renaissance look was a big draw - strong colors like reds and black and unique chic wallpaper and upholstery. Very lux. It's also voted by Conde Nast Traveller UK as The World's Best New Hotels Worldwide in 2005. And yet... its prices are not the kind you would expect to pay. Sin$175 up.

Unique Quality: Something unique about this hotel is that it's part of Singapore's conservation shophouses. No pool sadly, since it sits on a site that in great demand (very little space) and being an existing building from the colonial (war) days, this building's restricted to three storeys. But there's SODA, a jacuzzi pool of sorts which goes down well with guest who still want to laze around to soak up in the Singapore sun. By the way, did I forget to mention that some of the most hip parties are held at The Scarlett?

Boutique Hotel with roof top bar restaurant

Unfortunately I did not stay in a room, however the hotel made a nice impression while friends and me were guests on the roof top's bar.

The reception looks inviting however front office staff was unable to show room.

Unique Quality: One of the not many open air places on a roof top. Full cuisine, cocktails, delicous cake and coffee even in the evening.

Service especially of host was impeccable, with lots of smiles and treated with straightforward humor.

Sensuous Boutique Hotel

This is another one of the hotels that I will recommand to those who are traveling to Singapore & are willing to spend slightly more to enjoy the comforts of the room.

Scarlet Hotel - one of the newest in line of our boutique style hotels. You've really got to extend your stay in Singapore because you'd not want to leave the room.

Unique Quality: The interior of this hotel makes it shout Sensuality, Romance, Passion. It's classy & luxurious....

Fantastic Hip Boutique Hotel in Singapore

We stayed 3 days in one of their regular rooms. The decor was lush and hip, the rooms were beautiful. Ours was in a wing without windows facing out, but we had a lovely skylight. It was lovely and private, nicely decorated, had a welcome drink and snack, a great mini-bar and a wonderul bathroom with a great shower. The restaurant (Desire) had the best food (try the pumpkin soup!) and cool drinks. The rooftop bar (Breeze) was a cool Singapore nightspot with tropical plants, candles, shiek decor and a great view. Overall - could not have had a better experience - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Unique Quality: The doorman's jacket was worth the stay alone!

More about The Scarlet Hotel

new boutique hotel in town

by lolita1979 about scarlet hotel

never stayed here(am local) but boutique hotel is housed within a gorgeous art deco building that's been painted black. concept is rather - bordello like, with F&B outlet names like desire(hey the hotel name itself says a lot). decor of the hotel articulated much of what i've been trying to effect in my dressing room. a water feature of gold mosaic at the entrance, lots of chandeliers and mirrors with gorgeous infusions of the modern- pink suede in the bar, red verner panton chairs and lava lamp projectors in the restaurant....

I love its location, its ambience and its surroundings.
This hotel is converted fron a few shophouses and very nicely decorated in the main colors of red and black. The location is not right smack in the shopping belt of Orchard Rd but in Chinatown, which provides a different cultural look to Singapore.
Though the room is a little tight, its staff is friendly and they have a good restaurant! I love the roof top deck for dinner at night. Good romantic ambience and food.

Comfortable but not wow:ed at Scarlet

Stayed in the Scarlet hotel in December 2005 - a enjoyable hotel.

Good points - nice decor in rooms, very new feel to everything, reasonably near to the MRT (7 min walk), good selection of goodies in room (shampoo/body lotion etc) from their own brand "Flair", reasonable price.

Not so good points - rooms a bit on the small, not that many shopping areas withing walking distance. There could also be a bit more info in the rooms on area, the restaurants, ammenities in the hotel etc.

There are two restaurants in the hotel - Breeze and Desire. We ate in the roof top resturant Breeze once and we were somewhat underwhealmed. Location and decor is lovely - but the food quality was patchy and the variety is limited. Additionaly for a modern hotel there is no internet in the rooms or even in the hotel.

Firstly Has any one stayed here, and if so did they like it,as I would like to on a stop over for just one night. It looks like it is close to a train station, is this correct. and secondly does any one know a web site that would have good rates for this hotel, I have been surfing but if anyone has a good web page I would appreciate it.

I've not stayed there but I've just booked a room there myself.
I looked at www.tripadvisor.com where it was very highly rated. You can also check availability across several sites with their quickchecker facility.
