One of Orchard's best value hotel
by uie_jkt about The Park Hotel
I stayed there on april 2007 for about 3 nights. It's strategically located in the heart of Orchard Road. That is, in the middle pf all major shopping centres in Singapore. The room is nice , quite spacious and breakfast is good quality. I love staying there, and would definitely stayed there on my next visit to S'pore. and it's good value for money. Spacious Room, great service and strategic location.

Very small room with amenities:

Yes, Whampoa Makan Place (Whampoa Market Place) is still around and had been renovated and is nicer.
It is the place for locals and it has many stalls selling good local food.
Still is very popular and can get crowded during peak meals period.
HOW TO GO TO...
by phoebekph
Hi there! I will be going to Singapore on June 4-6 2010 with my friends. We booked a room at Value Hotel, Balestier branch. I just want to know how can I go to Sentosa, Suntec City, Merlion, Universal Studios from our Hotel. Can somebody teach me what bus to take or what MRT station we are supposed to ride? Thank you so much and I hope someone can help us. :)

There is an excellent MRT line in Singapore that will get you just about anywhere. Grab a map of the city, with MRT routes, and have a look.
Bus services are also good. The Hop-on/Hop-off bus is good value, goes to all the mentioned attractions, and tickets are valid for 24hours, I think. Buy the tickets from Visitors Centre at 68 Orchard Road (outside Plaza Singapura), where you can also pick up many pamphlets, maps etc that are free.
If you have a Singapore Boarding pass, you travel free on Singapore Flyer bus, which also stops at attractions.
Incidentally- taxis are not expensive in Singapore, and quite plentiful.

Pick up a free tourist map from the airport before you exit via customs. This has all the attractions listed and the MRT stations. There are dedicated busses to Sentosa and Universal Studio's - the hotel staff will be able to tell you where and when to catch it.

Easy to get around on MRT, but sometimes easier and quicker to walk short distances as often the trains go one or more stops and then you have to change lines.
Ask reception at your hotel, they can use a highlighter to mark your path on Map or Train.

Hi,
You are going to be closest to either Boon Keng MRT station (purple line) or Novena MRT station (red line). You'll basically be midway between the two. The MRT is exceedingly ease to use and an excellent way to travel quickly and efficiently.
For Sentosa, you can travel on the orange line to Harbourfront MRT.
For Merlion, you can get off at either City Hall or Raffles MRT.
Have a great time!
