Pretty on the Outside AND inside

My friends surprised me a stay at this hotel one Friday as a birthday gift. It was pretty cute really, with everyone (4 ppl) squeezing into one really tiny room with a birthday cake. BUt what a room it was... Two frosted glass cubicles serving as the WC and shower respectively. A Nespresso Machine, a big LCD TV (although there was disappointingly no movie channels) and a garish blue neon lamp for lighting.

Unfortunately since it was a tiny hotel, the staff knew we were up there and informed us that only the two people who checked in could stay. The rest had to leave so this birthday boy here had no choice but to say goodbye to the fantastic room that was my accommodation for all of three hours.

If you do drop in though, be sure to visit Cocote, their restaurant. I hear their food is excellent!

Unique Quality: Each level is unique. The rooms are designed by several different design firms. The most interesting is the yellow submarine room with loud yellow colors for everything!... XD

Is it worth purchasing an Ez-link for a 3 day stay at Singapore. Where are they available?

Ezlink card are available at all MRT stations and 7-eleven store.
The card had a non-refundable charge of $5.

You may like to get a singapore tourist pass if you are spending above $8. Check this out http://www.ezlink.com.sg/consumer/consumer_tourist.jsp

Travel Tips for Singapore

Wanna Catch a Movie while in Town?

by Rachelynn

Despite the abundance of DVD/VCD and the players, Singaporeans are great movie-goers. Especially so when it comes to block-buster movies, like Lord of The Rings, The Day After Tomorrow, Harry Potter, The Incredibles, Bridget Jones' Diary, Titanic of course are very good examples for the gross profit earned by cinemas here!

It cost $6.50 - $8.50 SGD per movie ticket, depending on weekday or weekend. If you book through internet or phone, you will need to pay a booking fee of $0.70...hmm. or is it $0.50.

Popular cinemas are Cathay Orchard (opposite heerem), Golden Village (GV) Plaza & Marina Sq. My favourites are GV Bishan & Great World City & Cathay Orchard

For online booking (via visa or mastercard only), here's the website for more information on locations and schedules.

Cathay

Phone Bookings: 6235 1155

Goldn Village
http://www.gv.com.sg/Booking/index.htm
For phone booking, pls call 19009121234
Per call cost $0.30

Of course you can also buy tickets at the cinema counters. =)

Enjoy!

United Overseas Bank

by Jmill42

You should realize what a cool bank I thik this is, for me to mention it here. Being directly on the waterfront at the Boat Quay, and being graced with three famous statues commissione by the bank itslef, including Salvador Dali, this bank is by far the coolest bank I've ever been to. It has a massive covered area passing through from the strret to the water, and it is a perfect place to escape the direct sunlight or to enjoy the breeze at night sitting on one of its many benches. Really cool. Oh, yeah, they have ATM's...

It is not a mean feat

In Singapore, like a lot of other Asian countries, it is a custom to remove your shoes outside the house before entering. Therefore, be careful about your socks with windows. This stems from the belief that houses are considered sacred place and no bad influence be cast on the house. Therefore, by wearing shoes inside somebody's house, you may get bad influence from outside. In general if you get invited to somebody's house then they will offer you a house sleeper (only to be worn inside the house). WARNING: Don't wear expensive shoes when you get invited to somebody's house. 1. Nobody will notice your expensive shoes 2. Since it is kept outside, it may develop wings!!

For more adventures besides shopping, Pulau Ubin is a good choice. You can choose to go on a halfday trip or you can even extend it to an overnight trip! more details at http://hubpages.com/_vt86/hub/Pulau-Ubin-A-different-Singapore
