A fine stay
The food is great; you'll have plenty of any kind you like. Just make sure you don't lose your buffet coupons or else, you won't be enjoying any of them.
The pool is quite small, not the size as I imagined it to be from the brochure.
Wireless internet access is not free of charge; you need to purchase a password at the hotel lobby so you could enjoy its usage.
The service, cleanliness, and room values are quite just fine and there's no whining I could give to that.
Unique Quality: The location's plus factor is that it's a 5-minute walk from Park Mall (where one could get access to food and necessary personal supplies), and 10 minutes away from the Dhoby Gaut MRT Station. Early morning, one could also set out for an uphill jog or walk at the Fort Canning Park just across the hotel and get a good fresh view of the city.

Stay Away From This Place
Stay away from this place. No doubt the price is cheap, but facilities are run-down...cover sheets for chairs and table cloths are torn and stained...these are just some examples.
Moreover, staff's response is slow and even the Food and Beverage Manager's service attitude is horrible and extremely rude.
When complaint was made, explanations given by the manager were to justify themselves rather than doing anything to solve the problem.
It is only when I had to repeat myself at least 3 more times before he is willing to do something to help, and still trying to justify himself and his staff in the end...
If you ask me how is the customer service of this place...my answer is "What customer service?"
Unique Quality: Terribly rude attitude from Food and Beverage Manager.
Slow response time from staff.
Rude behaviour by staff over the phone during every single call....Staff's voice tone sounded uninterested and bored. When further questions were asked, staff sounded harsh and rude. Makes a customer feel that they just want to brush you off.
When conversation ended, staff just hung up the phone without any sign of basic courtesy...pure absence of "Thank you" and "Goodbye".
In a nutshell, not one single staff sounded polite and never showed any basic courtesy.
Facilities are run-down and NOT presentable.

Orchard to NTU - Nanyang Technological University
So far their is no hotel near to that area.
You have to consider travelling from orchard area to Nanyang Technological University by taxi cab. At this moment , the cheapest hotel i can recommend for you is YWCA Fortcanning LODGE the price is USD 99.- per room per nite with breakfast good for two person.Location is 6 Fort Canning Road Singapore 179494.

No frills hotel..highly recomended for backpackers
The rooms aren't that spectacular but they are very clean. We were given a room which had a nice view of Fort Canning Park and the pool located at the 4th floor. Almost all personal necesseties are avialable already except for slippers which are available upon request for a fee. The room doesn't come with an iron and ironing board so make sure you pack your stuff very well.
The MRT station is very accessible as well as bus stops. A big mall, the Center Mall is very near the hotel too so for anything that you would be needing, you won't have to walk that far.
Unique Quality: their overnight stay already comes with a breakfast buffet. The food isn't that spectacular. I was there for 3 nights which means I ate breakfast there 3 times as well. The food during the 3 days were almost the same. They serve porridge or what we filipinos call "lugaw" which tastes very good. Don't try looking for meat because there isn't any. They serve very good fried rice, noodles, 2 types of eggs, custard, a variety of fruits and bread with butter and jam. Coffee, tea, orange or apple juice is available too, bottomless.

there are many things you can do here. when i stayed here we had breakfast, buffet to be exact!i would reccomend you stay here cause it's cheap and quiet.you could also bring your kids here. the room that i stayed in was good for 2-3 people.
you could check out the pool. maybe check the food downstairs. maybe even walk to the nearest mall. or just plan what you'd love to do the next day. i wasn't able to look around that much but i think there is a place where you can surf the net there.they have another hotel maybe just across the street. maybe that has the arcades, bars and maybe you could just walk around.
Unique Quality: there are pools here great views and the people are so kind!

A Family-friendly hotel
Room we had was a de Luxe Room which had 2 double beds. Although it lacked the amenities which we were used to seeing in a 4 for 5 star hotel, this hotel is clean, with friendly staff, and is located right next to a mall.
Unique Quality: next to a mall and is a walking distance from other mall and the Ruffles hotel, a museum, and has access to buses and the MRT (train). It has a pool too. Buffet Breakfast is part of the price quoted you. It has a Christian fellowship held every sunday.

Fort Canning Lodge
Hi. Will be in SG from July 25-30. Can you give me feedbacks on the Fort Canning Lodge. Am thinking of staying here because of its location and nearby park. (as well as the very reasonable rates at S$80/nite)

YWCA Fort Canning Lodge's location is quite okay. Rooms are clean and well-maintained, though they may be a little old. It is at one rather quiet and hidden end of Orchard Road, being located behind Park Mall, and near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.
To reach it, a convenient but rather unorthodox way will be to take the elevator in Park Mall till the 4th level, enter the car park, head towards the left and exit the car park to the main road. The hotel is located on the right after you get out from the car park.
Fort Canning Park is a little "hilly" but I like the place. It's an interesting place to go if you want to get away from the crowd for a while. I also like dining at "The Cafe", which is a small restaurant located within The Legends Fort Canning.

Hi! It's a good place, in the city but not exactly so. Fort Canning is a nice place to take a stroll in the morning or evening - do visit the Battlebox (if you are into history) and the Spice Garden (if you like nature or cooking) while you are there. The city is just footsteps below, easy to get to and get around. (Do have a look at my VT Singapore page and see if my tips help) Cheers!

I stayed there before I find it nice. It is in the city centre but not along the busy noisy streets. Near Fort Canning. Nice place.
