I.C. yogwans: Yogwans
This is a general tip, so there are no names, just advice. In every city there will be yogwans. These are inexpensive hotels. In Cheonan, there are dozens of them. Mostly near the freeway exit. They often have the unsavory title of "love hotels" but this doesn't make them bad places. You can pay $150.00-$250.00 a night for a nice room in a name hotel, or you can pay $25-30 bucks for a nice room in a yogwan. You will usually have t.v., a small fridge, and a double bed. That's it. nothing fancy. The best of them in Cheonan charge 50 a night and are comparable to the Hyatt up in Seoul. We have stayed in dozens of them in our travels around Korea and have never been disappointed. sure, there is no service, no breakfast, no restaurant, but for a little gas in the scooter I am more than happy to save one of two hundred and walk 20 feet to a place to eat. How can you find a yogwan if you don't speak Korean? Look for a sign that resembles a gas ring on an old ktchen range with fire coming out of it. This signifies the ancient idea that a place to stay offered hot water which was heated on such a device.
