Shilla Hotel: Best of Best! Most wonderful hotel~

by LEEJUHEE

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, The Shilla Jeju enjoys one of the most spectacular settings on the stunning Island, Jeju. The Shilla Jeju is set in its own private 21-acre cliff-top gardens at the centre of the comprehensive Jungmun Resort Complex on the South coast of Jeju lsland. Since the opening in 1990, as Korea's first 5 star resorts, The Shilla Jeju has been the most prestigious venue in the Jungmun Resort Complex. The Shilla Jeju resort, the premier destination in Jeju, is at the forefront of a new tourism and conference era, attracting world-class conferences and becoming the address for thousands of VIPs. As a world class resort, the service focuses on satisfying guests beyond their expectations.

you can see the Han-Ra mountain, and nice night veiw. There is great garden.

Jejufullhouse: Korean Pension

by Bob_Shan

Nice looking, spacious guesthouse, 1 suite for 3 families.
Bedroom is bit too simple, setting room is good.

The pension is by the sea, have a nice garden, with outdoor swimming pool and BBQ setting.

The Shilla Jeju: The Shilla in pictures

by TheTravelSlut

Previously described in this tip section as a first class, 5 star resort-spa.

Previously desribed as having everything on-site that a guest would expect of a resort of this caliber.

The Shilla Jeju: A top pick for the Jungmun Resort area

by TheTravelSlut

This hotel resort lives up to its 5-star reputation in both accomodations and service. I would highly recommend this resort.

The Shilla is located next to two other 5 star resorts-- the Hyatt and Lotte. There are 429 guest rooms with all the modern (and expected) amenities of a resort of this type. Dignitaries and heads of state have stayed here including a U.S. President (although, not in my room :-)

The resort is fashioned in a southern European style and is beachside (although there is a walk involved through lush gardens and landscapes).

They service people for rooms, restaurant-bars and the concierge staff, were all extremely helpful and gracious.

Plan on being bowed to, being greeted with a smile, and having few English language barriers.

It is a honeymoon destination resort area as is the entire area.

The resort has both an indoor and outdoor pool, 3 restaurants (Continental, Korean and Japanese), 2 bars/lounges, a casino (plan on showing your passport as no Koreans are allowed inside), duty dree shopping and a gift shop, on-site rental cars, tours, photo shop, Jeju specialty shop, Cloisonne' shop, sauna, game arcade, kids club, karaoke, a wonderful spa, tennis courts, fitness center and indoor golf range.

The rooms either face the beach/ocean or 6,000 foot tall Mt. Halla (I had the mountain views).

The rooms are quite spacious and efficient and include a large balcony.

The beds are Asian style and form and bathroom has a full tub with shower attachment, full shower, toilet with a bidet incorporated in it, and all other standard and expected amenities.

Geumneung Beach: Camping on Jeju-Do beaches

by izsak02

This is such a beautiful place we ended up staying here for 2 nights. One fine story, A couple of teens approached us at our campsite. We guessed that they were sent to charge us for camping. But they couldn't speak english and possibly embarassed, so they just left.
This beach is packed with lava rocks but in the morning until the afternoon, the tide is so low and the water is warm, you could stay on the white and very fine sand far from the land. It even seem possible to swim to the Biyangdo Island.
The campground is right beside the beach and very quiet. As a side trip, and a break from the burning sun, walk across the street and visit Hallim Park. The bus from Seogwipo Bus Terminal go to Hallim Park and cost about 7000Won ($7US).

Hyeopjae Beach is beside Geumneung Beach but a lot busier. It also has a campground, but it was a good thing we didn't camp there. It is close to all the restaurants and stores where people seem to party all night. The beach is better there in the late afternoon, that is if you don't mind the crowd.

Jungmun Beach: Camping on Jeju-Do beaches

by izsak02

From Seogwipo Bus Station, take the bus for 20mins to Jungmun Resort.
This was the worst campground we've seen in Jeju. It was on a parking lot and beside the road. We were even asked to pay 5000Won ($5US) for camping. Then, a bunch of teens came late and pitched their tents beside ours. They kept yapping and laughing loudly at 2am. Asking nicely and shooshing them didn't make a difference at all. Sometimes you just can't get away from busy city life.
This beach is inside the Jungmun Resort, and the campground is in front of the "motorcycle monkey show".
The campground is fairly close to the beach, which offers fine white sand and good waves.

Sinyang Beach: Camping on Jeju-Do beaches

by izsak02

This beach is located on the eastern-most coast of the island.
The bus DOESN'T go directly to this beach so we had to walk for about 2kms from the bus stop. The campground is huge and we didn't get charge for camping. This area offers a seaweedy smell beach, a pay shower, and an expensive bottle of water.
It is about an hour's walk along the beach to the Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong).

Korean Host Family: Jeju Homestay

by glazaro

I stayed with a family of three for two nights. I found them through a website run by the Jeju government. The original site I used doesn't seem to be working anymore. I emailed the government about 3 weeks before I was to arrive, and received a reply from the family about a week later. It was only about 20,000won a night, they offered me a very clean, comfortable room in their apartment, and even treated me out to dinner the first night. They lived near the downtown area in Jeju City, and this allowed me easy access to the bus system. They were very helpful in showing me how to get around the island and they were happy to practice their English and help me plan my short stay there. Unfortunately I don't know if the same system is still the same in Jeju, as the link I had used originally doesn't offer the same deal. But if you follow the link below through to the lodging pages, you can find access to other homestays on the island.

It's just the chance to meet with some nice local Jeju folks and stay in a local home.

Hotel Jeju Royal: Hotel Jeju Royal

by Tom_Fields

This is an excellent hotel, in the center of Jeju-si. It's easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and much more. This was part of my guided tour, so I cannot tell you how much it cost. Anyway, it was so long ago that it would not apply.

Nice place. I'd stay again.
