Haewabada Pension: Between Sunrise Peak and Cow Island

by iwys

Haewabada Pension in Seongsan was recommended to me by someone who had stayed there before, and I, in turn, will pass on the recommendation, because I think the place is great.

It is a charming pension, with a great location, near both Sunrise Peak and the ferry port for Udo (Cow Island).

The brick chalets are set in a pretty garden on the east coast of Jeju-do. The chalets are spacious and have great facilities, including a kitchen area, computer with internet access, television, refrigerator, under-floor heating, and a balcony.

The price is 60,000 won per night, but in low-season it can be negotiated down to 40,000 won.

Jazz Village: Splendid location, new and extremely comfy

by Vita500

It was during my previous visit to Jeju-Do in April that I noticed a signboard guiding the way towards the so-called "JAZZ VILLAGE".
After checking their website (unfortunately so far only in Korean!), I instantly decided that this is going to be the place to stay during my next visit.

It was a good decision!
The Jazz Village is a relatively new (opened in January 2005), blockhouse-style pension in the Southern part of Jeju-Do in a very quiet and convenient location, only about 5 minutes drive from Jungmun beach.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and could even speak a little English. To live up to its name, soft Jazz music was constantly being played on the outside, creating a romantic and relaxed atmosphere for the young and the young at heart...!

The rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with everything you might possibly need, incl. a large TV, DVD player, kitchenette, fridge, sofa, air-con, hair-drier, kettle, shower gel and shampoo.
The bigger apartments have two or even three storeys with spiral staircases leading to the upper floors.

- new, clean and extremely cosy
- friendly, English-speaking staff
- outdoor swimming pool
- sauna
- DVD player in room
- open air cinema (once a week)

Illchubong Tourist Hotel: Staying near SeongSan Illchubong

by bpacker

If I were to return to Jeju, I'd stay near SeongSan Illchubong, the volcanic crater. Why? Because waking up early to see the sun rise over Seongsan Illchulbong is a must in these parts. Words can't descibe the spectacle that I saw so I'll put a picture..

I've just listed one tourist hotel over here but there are more yokwans ( traditional inns) clustered around the site of the crater. Trouble is, these Yokwans rarely take reservations, it's more on a walk-in-availability basis. The hotel I've listed is a 3* joint , be patient when you give them a call. Korean English can be trying at times..

Lotte Hotel: Luxury Resort on Korea's Paradise Island

by Vita500

Together with The Shilla Hotel it's definitely one of the best places to stay on Jeju-Do... but also one of the most expensive ones: The Lotte Hotel.
Nothing for budget travelers but something for everybody who enjoys staying in an elegant, cosy and extremely luxurious manner.

Positive
+ Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms
+ All rooms come with private balcony
+ Indoor & outdoor pool, spa, fitness center, tennis courts, Casino, Duty Free Shop, rental car company, daily vulcano show
+ Extremely polite and obliging personnel
+ Design and overall environment

Negative
- Very costly
- Breakfast buffet is rather Asian-oriented
- Language barrier (rental car, gift shop, ...)
