Jeju city (Jeju-si) is the largest city on Jeju Island. It is divided into two parts, old Jeju (Gu Jeju) and New Jeju (Sin Jeju). Old Jeju dates back as long as the island, as the northernmost city and the location of the major port. New Jeju, on the other hand, is a new portion of the city built in the 1970's. Old Jeju has the feel of an ancient city with it's winding roads and hills while New Jeju is laid out on a grid.

Most of the tourist destinations are in Old Jeju, while the best restaurants are in New Jeju.
