Greenyard hotel: Stay at Sokcho-si or Osaek

I stayed at Sokcho-si and used it as a base to explore Mt Sorak. While it's cheap, it would have been a nicer experience to stay in Osaek as the air there was so fresh! There are many motels there. For 5 star accomodations, you could try greenyard hotel.

Be Prepared!

Sheters are available (for W3,000 - a great deal) on the mountains, but be prepared! The shelters are bare-bones - little more than heated floors, smelly latrines, access to drinking water, and, maybe, an overpriced store selling hot noodles and coffee. Problem is, there aren't nearly enough shelters to go around. Some can be reserved via the internet, but you'd best try to make your arrangements well in advance. If the rooms are booked, you can take your chances and try to get a first-come-first-served room, but if it's a busy time (a long weekend, for example) you're not likely to get a private room (read my travelogue to find out just what happens when there's no room at the inn!). Bring WARM clothes and a sleeping bag.

Mount Sorak Tourist Hotel: Mount Sorak Tourist Hotel

Prices are available at the website.

This is a very convenient hotel as it is the only one that is located within the national park itself. The service is good and the rooms are cosy. What I like about this hotel is that each room has a superb view of the mountains. You can even relax at you room's balcony and enjoy the scenery while having some food and drinks (good way to enjoy life).
