Seoul Drum Festival
by K1W1
The annual Seoul Drum Festival last weekend (8 -10 October 2004) was a free display of many different styles and cultural drum performances. Each set lasted about 20 minutes and each session lasted from 6pm to 9.30pm. The weather was perfect and the performers generally put on a great show. Outstanding were the Korean and Japanese groups on the Saturday and Sunday evenings (I missed the Friday show).
The festival was capped with a fireworks display, right in the middle of the city buildings !! Sitting on the grass with a picnic blanket, some beer and wine, snacks and my Korean friends enjoying the drum performances in front of city hall - fantastic !

If you wear grasses usually, or you want to try other unique ones, you can buy it by very cheap price. This is each 30000W including lenses, quality is also good! It doesn't need doctor's prescription because the shop person have special license for fitting grasses to customer. My favorite shops are on the underground at Myongdong station.

Korea is world renown for its Ginseng products. They have used the ginseng roots for thousands of years to cure all sorts of ailments. It is said that the ginseng tea is good for the body and mind. Some say it boosts the energy and even prolongs ones life. I highly recommend you buy some and give it a try. The tea is delicious!
Eating on the Floor -- How Painful
by AKtravelers
If you go to a traditional Korean restaurant, be prepared to sit on the floor at a small table -- especially if you go with Koreans! For most Westerners, sitting on the floor for extended periods of time can quickly become uncomfortable. Drinking doesn't really help -- except if you allow for the fact that it makes you pee, giving you an excuse to get up and stretch your legs. So, what I do when I walk into one of these restaurants is try to get a seat behind which sits a wall -- allowing me something to lean on during respites in the meal. I also recommend wearing pants that are dark to hid the inevitable staining that comes from chopsticking kimchi over your unsettled legs.
