Around Seoul and beyond...

by tmosterhus

Hi, we will be in Seoul Korea from about Feb 18-25th give or take a day or two. We are adopting a little girl! This is our second trip to Korea. While we are there, we would like to head down to Masan (where our Son was born) for a day or two and then be back in Seoul most of the time. We also want to take a day trip to Pyeongtaek. (where our daughter was born)
Does anyone have any experience in either of these cities? Things to do/see?
We are also avid photographers, so if you know of any fabulous "vantage points" to get good city views in Seoul, we would love to hear about them. We took some great shots last time from the N. Seoul Tower!

I've been to Masan. There is nothing spectacular in my mind about that town. If you can, take the extra ~30 minutes to go up and over the mountain to the coastal town of Jinhae.

It won't be the time of the cherry blossoms for which the town is famous, but that town is much more scenic in my opinion than Masan.

Travel Tips for Seoul

63 Building

by Soobin

63 Building is the tallest building in Korea. It is located in Yeoyido, Seoul. 63 Building has many wonder places to go. There are I-MAX, Aquarium, Madam Tusso(Wax museum) and so on.
If you go to there on Monday, You can get discount for 25 years celebration event.
Also, if you want to enjoy with little money, you can buy 'Big 4 ticket' which can enjoy only 4 places. I went to there last month. I really enjoyed 63 building with little money.
And the night is coming, you can see fantastic night view in Korea. I really miss Korean food and Korean people. They always approach to me like family.

Palace interiors

by iwys

Seoul is a city of royal palaces. There are five of them in all. One of my favourite things is looking inside the palace rooms. They have a simple, uncluttered style, quite different to that of European palaces.

The beautiful room in the picture is at Changdeokgung.

Housing in Seoul

by victorwkf

Generally, the houses and flats located south of the Hanggang river are more expensive and is considered an area for richer people. This is because in the event of a North Korean invasion, the south is better protected by the river which will slow down the invaders. In Seoul and Korea, housing is in a form of a rental system and the owners will actually return you the portion of the left over money from rental, if any.
