I stayed here on my last night in Seoul waiting for my flight back to Japan recently. It's quality has dropped off some, but for the money, you can't beat the price in Seoul for it's location and convience if you are on a budget. The rooms were comfortable with a well stocked mini bar. The instruction on ameneties were in 4 langugaes and there is just so much on the premises.
There are two resturaunts in the building itself and room service runs till midnight (very reasonable prices I might add) and probably one of the best American breakfast room services in that part of Seoul (except the Dragon Hill if you are able).
There is also a mall/gift shop with leather goods, a custom tailor, and Cuban cigars all on the premises.
The staff was very helpful and considerate. For being there only one night, they were pretty good.
The hotel sits almost in the middle of one of the most popular shopping areas in seoul and practically on top of a subway stop. So it makes a good central location for you to stay in Seoul and see the rest of the city. American eateries are within a block of its entrance (Outback Steakhouse is across the street). but why come to Korea and eat American food? There is also fair nightlife in the area, but it caters to the young single crowd and US military mostly. There is an OUSTANDING Thai resturaunt down the street form the hotel (Thai Garden). All of the herbs used in preparing your meal are grown fresh right at the resturaunt (hence the name)
I like the Hamilton Hotel. It is not cheap, but Seoul hotels in general are expensive and the 2* Hamilton is better value than most of the other star hotels. It is right in the middle of Itaewon and opposite an airport limousine and Seoul City Tour bus stop, which makes it very convenient for foreign visitors.
There are 9 floors and 155 rooms.
You may be able to negotiate the price, but the average is between $100 and $120. As I said, hotels in Seoul are not cheap.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and I recommend it to anyone - great value and good location! At it's door step is Itaewon Subway Station.
It is located in the tourist area where there are many Western restaurants (ate in KFC upon arrival), convenience stores and clothes shop.
Safe to walk even during the night - lots of men/women in military uniform roam the area. You can even try eating in one of the sidewalk restaurants (white tents) for more authentic Korean experience!
Breakfast buffet area has a view of the garden and rooms have a view of tiled roofs of private residences. Attached to a mall. Fairly large and clean room. With cable TV and 2 pillows for each bed. Browse through some of the travel brochures at the lobby.
Terrible room, even worse when I booked and they told me that it was a double and found a twin, I found the bed uncomfortable and the noise outside made my stay there very uncomfortable. Avoid.
