Advise for a brief budget stay
by DSwede
1) Money (listed in KRW - won) to bring if you are traveling on a budget:
accommodation could be 15000 ~ 50000 won per day depending on where you book
-food will run you about 5000~10000 won per meal (remember no need to tip)
-shopping is per your own choices and tastes:
--cheap clothing can be found 5000 won and higher
--cheap backpacks and bags can be found 25000 won and higher
--electronics vary greatly and may need to be researched because foreign markets may be cheaper
-transportation - subway tickets can be bought on multi-passes for average cost of less than 1000 won per ticket
2) Where to stay. Look at the Seoul travel guide for reasonable discount accommodation. There are lots of guesthouses, hostels and cheap hotels.

3) Renting room as foreigner. There is absolutely nothing in regards to safety that you will have problem with by renting a room by yourself as a foreigner. However Korea does not commonly have short term rentals. The system in which Korea does key/deposit money and then monthly contracts does not usually make it worth while for short stays. And typically unless you find a lucky connection, most temporary apartments may not be furnished.
Happy children (1)
by MEdelmann
.... and then plenty of children came ... They collected around me and until then I was not able to take further pictures. They all greeted me saying "Hello" or "Hi" and I greeted back. They were very proud to get a greeting from me .... :-)) ... and they wanted to know where I come from and asked me some questions in poor english.
% cb The teacher had to fight to get their attention but he was not able to .... :-)) So I had to wait with taking pictures of the great architecture at Gyeongbokgung Palace, but it was a nice experience to see such happy children like on the picture on your left ....

Traveling in Korea
by Ewingjr98
Traveling here is very easy as we Americans have been here quite a while... Everywhere in the country street signs are in English and Korean (called Hangul), but small stores and restaurant signs and menus may only be in Hangul. One of the most confusing things is they recently changed the English equivalent of most Korean words -- therefore Pusan became Busan, Taegu became Daegu, and In'chon became Incheon!
Asian League Ice Hockey
by tyusen
Asia League Ice Hockey consists of 8 teams; 4 from Japan, 2 from China and 1 from Korea and Russia. Well, actually I don’t know about ice hockey very much. So I’ll show you a useful website. You can check out the schedule and the system of this league. I went to an Arena in Seoul to watch a match last year. It was my first time to watch ice hockey games in my life but it was really exciting and interesting. Seoul had a team named Winia but this team has changed its home arena from Seoul to Anyang. But you don’t worry about that. Anyang is very close to Seoul. You can get to Anyang by subway line-1. Spirits like ram, whisky etc...
