 | JW Marriott Hotel Seoul: My home away from home in Korea

I have been a extended stay guest here at the JW Marriott in Seoul for a while now. This is the best hotel (overall) that I have stayed at in Seoul. It's very conveniently located...shopping right downstairs, many restaurants as well, and two subway lines. Next door you have a bus station that will take you almost anywhere in South Korea. The limousine bus to the airport is located downstairs too. Nightlife minutes away (Kangnam and Apkujungdong) by taxi and just a few stops by subway.
The JW Marriott has the best fitness center I have seen in a hotel. They have all the fitness equipment you need. Also, squash courts, swimming pool, diving pool, sauna, rock climbing, indoor driving range, etc... If you are fortunate enough to stay on the executive levels, you can enjoys the comforts of the executive floor lounge and it's excellent staff. They always great you with a smile and make you feel at home.

I stayed at the JW Marriott in Seoul (Banpo) and found the accomodations pretty good. If you have read some of my other hotel reviews, you'll notice that unless a hotel stands out for being really really good...or really really bad, they are all pretty much the same. The service and staff were all professional and the hotel was quiet, clean, and safe.
The one thing I usually critique is the location and things available to do in the immediate area. In this case, it was pretty interesting. The hotel sits atop the central express bus station and is adjacent to the subway. It also abuts "Central City" a mall complex that has Shinsegue (an upscale department store) and some other upper end stores. As you work your way through the underground, you will find staples of the bus station (McDonald's, KFC, numerous coffee and lunch restaurants), and higher end stores (Shinsegue), a movie theater. Move toward the subway and you will meander through numerous mom and pop shops selling everything from clothes, to kitchen gadgets to flowers. I liked the fact that you saw the high end and the low end side of commerce all within a few city blocks. The hotel is also a five to ten minute cab drive to Itaewon.
