The Westin Chosun was located in the center of Seoul and had easy access to just about anywhere in the city. There was a taxi stand right in front of the hotel and a subway station few blocks away from the hotel. The hotel staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. Spa facility was excellent. There were Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and French restaurants all in the hotel. Most of the hotel restaurants in Korea are known to be very pricey and it might not be a bad idea to explore the local restaurants near the hotel. Stick to the hotel restaurants if you don't speak the local language. Most Koreans do not speak English well and you will most likely have tough time ordering food when dining outside of the hotel.

I've stayed at many hotels in Seoul, but among them, I've stayed at three of the top names, the Hilton, Grand Hyatt and the Westin.
Honestly speaking, I put the Westin as being the most comfortable of the big three. The beds are the plushest, bathrooms are the largest, and the rooms are rather spacious.
For location, it is great for business travelers passing spending their time in commercial district.
Unique Quality: Walking distance from City Hall, Deosuggung Palace, National Museum of Art, Seoul Plaza, Namdaemun Market. Maybe a ~20 minute was from Insadong.
There are full spa, restaurant, bar, fitness center, etc.

Westin Chosun Hotel. The rooms are very nice and the services is quite good. I stayed there through 7 months and I can only complain about the beer prices at the hotel pub (Irish called O'Kims!)
It's about 230,000+ Won per night ($US200).
Unique Quality: American Forces TV Network in your room. It is hilarious and just crack me up with its ridiculous adds and mediocre American programming. It was so funny, it was almost sad!

I love this hotel. The rooms are very stylish and well equiped. The staff were very very friendly and accommodating. The location is ideal, next to the City Hall Green and most of the popular shopping markets. Is a bit pricey but if you can afford it, this is the luxury hotel to stay in while in Seoul. The food Was excellent too, especially the Italian Restaurant on the basement floor. The gym is very nice as well.
Unique Quality: The stylish rooms, the computer and cell phones in the rooms, excellent Executive lounge, great American Buffet. Great hospitality.

Most of my time there was as a resident. But on subsequent visits, we stayed at the Westin Chosun (slightly smaller rooms). The Lotte is ok, as is the Hyatt, though the latter is away from the city center. The Shilla Hotel is a wonderful hotel, a bit away from the city center too, but excellent all around. They also have traditional Korean style rooms as well.
The Korean Won is still depressed and you may get excellent deals.
Another Hotel on Haeundae Beach that is cool.
This is a 4 star hotel that stands alone on the North Eastern part of the beach. Once you get to the beach there are deck chairs and drinks that can be bought. ANd usually this part of the beach is usually quieter. THe only 'Downer' is that its too far from all teh action. Something that the New Beach and the Haeundae/Busan Mariott has going for it.
Still it has great weekenders during the quieter times, and the girls love that. ^.~ Has good of season deals. Like $100 a night. Or weekends for $180.
Okay the Guff: The hotel is the best place for business and vacation tips because it’s Thirty minutes away from the city center and forty minutes from kimhae Int’l Airport. Its close to the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center(BEXCO) (Where we saw Yogi Spin some great tunes).
But the best thing is it has a Swimming pool ( like gold in Korea) and it has a SH%$#y little Casino, that I didn't even try.
The Hotel has two restaurants (both a little steep): Dongbaek - A Korean style Buffet & Steak house, and Kuromatsu , a Japanese Restaurant. They have a pretty good pub, O’Kims - Irish Pub & Sports Bar That closes early and has ordinary Irish music and western food.
Westin Chosun is located in the heart of Seoul, walking distance to many city attractions and shopping areas. Staff is friendly and helpful. The amenities were incredibly up to date and modern.

would you know how much a deluxe van taxi would cost from Incheon airport to Westin Chosun Seoul? Westin has quoted 130,000KW for their hotel van. i'm travelling with 2 adults and 2 small kids so we're opting for a private ride. and are the deluxe vans readily available at the airport at 6am?

How small are the kids? The deluxe taxis and vans are available 24/7, but you won't really save that much over the hotel van...especially if the hotel is quoting a flat rate and is going to meet you at the gate. It should cost about 100,000KW plus the 7,100KW expressway toll. You could alternatively take the limousine bus which would cost 49,000KW for a family of 4 (assuming the kids are under 12).
