The Tower Hotel
This is my favorite place to stay when in Seoul. The Tower hotel is a large white tower that sits on Mt. Namsan, pretty much in the center of Seoul. It is a few minutes from Itaewon and downtown, and features just about everything you will need in a hotel.
The room was actually really nice, a big bed, a nice shower, mini-fridge, TV with a lot of channels, and convenience things like computer (a pay for use one near the lobby) and fax machines.
The hotel has a gym, massuese, restaurant, and a bakery shop in the new part. The only down side to the hotel is that the pool never seems to have any water in it. But that is ok, I found I had a better time when I got to meet the South Korean World Cup team when they stayed there.
Unique Quality: The Tower Hotel seems to be where a lot of wedding receptions happen. Because of this, there is a great atmosphere of fun on most nights coming from the reception halls. Many a bride can be seen roaming the lobby too. Which is good because for some unbelieveable reason, Korean women look more beautiful in a white wedding dress than any other women I have ever seen.... but I digress.
The hotel has great views of the Seoul Tower on Mt. Namsan, and parts of the city. The many trees that surround the area, and the position of the hotel on the mountain also give a cooler breeze than many of the downtown or land level hotels. Which is good if you are a person like me who loves their AC.
Finally, the hotel is very convenient to almost anywhere in Seoul. Itaewon and its subway station are a three minute ride by taxi, and taxi's seem to drop by every minute. There is also the Dongguk University Station within walking distance.
English speaking staff, a great rate on cashing travelers checks, and an overall desire to make your stay in Korea the best possible experience make this my favorite hotel to stay at.
