How can they charge this much $250.00 a night for the worst place I have ever stayed at

Apparently the best hotel in Sri Lanka.

Do not believe everything you read. This Hotel has been set up by some very rich Sri Lankan business men so I'm sure they have good connections with the Press.

Myself and my wife arrived at Elephant Corridor on the 13th December as part of our Honeymoon for a 3 night stay.

1st Problem (Rooms)
They took us to our room only for us to find it was a twin Bedroom.
They were reluctant to move us to another room and offered a discount which I felt was a let down and it was not until I said we would leave that they up-graded us to a better room.

2nd Problem (Restaurant)
This hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere which is fantastic, but when you have the worst cook working there you're grabbing at the Kit-Kat in the Mini bar as you're main course.

I asked for a Medium Rare Fillet Steak, it firstly arrived over Done, I asked for another one and it arrived RAW AND 3rd time lucky it was Over done again.

Breakfast was just as bad as what you ordered was not what you get, and frankly the staff have not a clue.

3 Problem. (SPA)
Not trained staff my mother could do better, they asked me to sit in a steam-room which was not even turned on and said to me to sit in the damp room for 5 minutes and wait for it to warm up, like wise in the Sauna

Be warned, Sri Lanka have some great places to stay but until they can get the staff that you expect for this type of Hotel look elsewhere! Not near any roads, great view of Sigrya Rock
