Tour guide/driver

by HansDK

If you need a tour guide/driver for your excursions by van or tuk tuk , I can recommend a guy called Sena.

You can meet him at his "offfice" on the beach between Bentota Beach Hotel and Hotel Ceysands, or you can contact him by mail or phone.

ceysands hotel - Bentota

by annonymous2

My husband and I spent a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary holiday at the Ceysands hotel and wonder what the situation is in that area and particularly that hotel.

Did anybody stay at Ceysands after their reopening last summer? I am especially interested in the service quality and the type of food the serve.
thanks in advance

Hi Aubert,

We stayed for 1 night last June. Almost all damage had been repaired then.

Service: excellent, a waiter at almost every door and thorough cleaning.
Food: good for 2-star. Buffet with western and Lankan. Not as much choice as in 3/4 star resorts.

We still recommend the place to anyone as it's one of the quiest possible places for a hotel along the whole southwestern coast! It's soooo nice to see the moving car lights at Galle Road from a distance of 500 meters across the lagoon and not be disturbed by their noise like in almost all other hotels..

All the best,

& [Sandya]

Hi Erik

thank you very much for your reply. To be honest my major concern is that I will have to put up with toast and beans for breakfast instead of getting my favorite stringhoppers with curry! :-)
I also heard that the garden is rather small according to the number of rooms and doesnt provide much shade. Can you confirm that?

greetings from switzerland

Hi again,

Okay so B'fast will be okay for you. It WAS for Sandya who also can hardly survive without hoppers and the like.

Yes, the garden is 'limited' especially near the new main swimming pool. A peninsula by its nature has less space than a big resort.

However near the old pool, on the north side, there is also a not that bad garden and that section of the hotel tends to be booked least so one can try to move there for some shade and solitude...

Have Ceysands fun,

& [Sandya]

PS The only part still missing after the tsunami reconstruction is the floating restaurant pontoon on the Bentota river. Too bad for fans of al-fresco, they now mostly use the AC restaurant on first floor inside.

Hi, My husband & I are travelling to bentotal in the 2nd week of dec. for 4 days. Pls. suggest a good hotel so stay. 4 or 5 star with preferably a proviate beach, close to the market/eating joints and a good view of the ocean. Also, does sri lanka have water sports like snorkelling, water ski etc?
Thanks, appreciate your responses :)

I doubt it that you can find accommodation in any 4-5 start hotels during Dec. Everything is fully booked. If you can tell me what hotels yuo are looking at maybe I can see if there is any availability.
