Way overpriced.
Not a 5 star hotel in the least. Location and establishment may be 5 star but the hotel is poorly executed in all service areas and expensive.
Staff constantly fishing for tips, slow wifi and really poorly trained staff. More is not better!
You'll find much better value and service at other hotels in Bentota

We were hoping to travel to Sri Lank for two weeks in early November on honeymoon, staying at the Saman Villas. Has anyone been to that hotel before at that time of year? What are the restuarant prices and food like? Is there any diving nearby?

The Saman Villas is a very nice hotel with all the top end facilities. November is a nice time to be there as the weather is good.
The prices of things are very expensive by Sri Lankan standards. I meal would cost about $30 per person as compared to about $10 in other cheaper hotels.
You will have to visit Hikkaduwa for diving which is about 45 mins from Saman Villas.
