Happy Family, Home rebuilt after Tsunami, Bentota
I am travelling to Bentatota on the 4th June and staying at the Taj Exotica. Please can someone advise what the weather will be like and also any feedback on the hotel would be greatly appreciated.

Taj is still the best mainstream hotel in Bentota, and HUGE. It has some maintenance backlogs however, esp. in a section of the rooms. On sister site Tripadvisor there are quite some reviews, generall positive but with these balance-points.
Weather in June - hmmm, not the most predictable. Generally it's first intermonsoon season then, which means
* Some days all-cloudy with intermittent showers
* Other (most) days 4-seasons-in-one-day: nice sunny periods, clouds, rain, sun again. The amount of sun generally decreases from morning to afternoon/evening.
So if tanning is your main purpose not the best time of the year, for more general leisure activities and outings still quite a good season. And 2 years back in intermonsoon I even saw 'beach-loving' tourists enjoying it, they moved from sunbeds to bar and back to the sunbeds several times in one day depending on the sky!

i was in Aida Hotel Bentota last weekends and as well as the previous, the weather was sunny and rainy, even in the month of june the same weather will be there, u can get 2 baths,1- sun bath, 2-see bath, im sure u will enjoy both climate, wishes. for more details aazhaa@yahoo.com

Close to Bentota is a sleeping buddha.
A complex of two temples an adjacent hills. This is quite a climb but the view in the temple and the surronding countryside is amazing. In the temple there is some mytholical history about the conflict between ceylon and tamil.
We were the only tourists there so w paid the priest a donation and in we went.
A typical morning scene on the Western and Southern coasts. Fishing is still done mostly by oruwa canoe-like out-rigger boats like these, but now small motorized boats are beginning to replace these ancient crafts. People in Sri Lanka have been using oruwas like these for centuries and the evolution goes back to pre-historic times.
The days catch like, tuna and seer, crabs and prawns (shrimp) are sold right off the boat at the beach, to the highest bidder, with one small caveat. Haggling with the fishermen for the price of fish could be harmful to your well being !! - they are notoriously short tempered, and Oh !! the language if you cross them !! .
